I use to think the monarchy was ridiculous
but now I think there is value in the head of state and the actual leaders of government being two different people.

when I look at the cult of personality

it seems to me people clearly have a desire to imbue heads of state with a kind of metaphysical power

Her first PM Churchill was born in 1874 I read. Shes been Queen for as long as people have been born, married and died and outlived them. My grandma is 97, the things people who live to that age have seen and been through, its amazing for anyone, let alone the Queen.
