Id take LeBron over bird easily. He is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better team/one on one defender. He even outshines him in the ability to create shots for himself. His court vision/ability to pass outshines him as well. Bird racist or not, alot of the hype was the fact he was a good white player in a time where it was clearly a sport dominated by blacks. He is a better screen/set shot shooter then lebron but that about wraps it up. You couldnt build a team around Bird, he was a product of the right players/pieces/coaching schemes. Hell Pippen>Bird.

Taking Lebron over Bird isn't a stretch. Your explanation is. When you start talking about Bird you flat out prove that you have no idea what you're talking about.

Not saying LBJ will win 6 or that Heat will win this year but he's already ahead of schedule.

With 2 MVPs in 7 years the same amount as MJ in the same amount of time.

Do you realize how watered down with talent the league is now compared to back then? Look at the competition MJ faced over his entire career compared to the competition to LBJ. Bird, Barkley, Zeek, Dumars, Ewing, Magic, Malone, Shaq, those Pacer teams, ect. Those Eastern Conference teams are miles ahead of any team he came in competition with.

So your saying bird could iso on offense and take a man off the dribble lol....? Are you saying bird is a better individual one on one defender lol...? Your saying bird is a better defender? A much better play-maker? Which part is outright outlandish? Was bird a good player sure... But was he a complete player... hell no. I dont know what bird you was watching albiet never saw him play... take that back probably espn classic and a few stats from/games from video games. But Bird for the most part was one-diminsional. A deadly/clutch shooter, who was a product of being on a great team for his entire career, college included.

True but none of those players played the same position or even against one another. The league back then was dominant of big men not sg's/sf's. I mean come on lets not act like every team had almost an allstar caliber sg/sf.

Of course that is a factor but still doesnt change the fact that Lebron took a team to the finals his 4th year in the league (4th year out of high school) and yes the league now is watered down in comparison but people act like Lebron's "Jordan chase" is so out of reach when year for year he has accomplished as much.

^ Don't just formulate your own argument off of things you never said in your original post.

Originally you said Lebron is betterat creating shots for himself. That's not true. How can someone so unathletic get off so many shots? It's because he was very crafty and had a high basketball IQ so that he COULD creat his own shots. Lebron bullies his way to the hoop or takes advantage of the defense who THINKS he'll bully to the basket so they lag off and Lebron shoots. Two dimensional.

Can't build a team around Bird? Stupid.

Bird was a product...A product of being on a great team his entire career? Son, without Bird, those Celtic teams aren't great.

Pippen > Bird. Dumb.

didnt he take a 20 something win celtics team to the best record his rookie year? he basically described what defined larry in his career. he probably doesnt have the athletic gifts bron has but not only could he create his own shots but he makes them on a consistant basis. he shot almost 50% and not because he played in the paint! hes top players in triple doubles. larry played defense, maybe not the in your face type but he plays the passing lane like no other. as a Laker fan i hate larry but i just had to close my eyes everytime he shot. the man was deadly but i have nothing but respect for a work horse like larry who only continued to improve every season.

Exactly and he made the finals with far less to work with. And if ppl want to add the college factor that only makes what LBJ did more amazing. He came str8 from highschool. Its not like he had time to groom himself, grow develop into a better player via the very reason for college ball. Also from day one LBJ was sought to be the savior of the team/franchise/ hell the state of ohio. That was not asked of Jordan. No player of recent history has had the burdens, pressures, etc expectations LBJ faced hell as a teenager. Even before enterin g the league.
