For the NT Film Awards, we need more people. We've got 6 so far. Kev, Dirk, venom, you guys in?
Gonna organize and split the final shortlist for movies, then get something that works together for acting/writing/directing tomorrow.
What does it mean that an Best Picture Oscar nominee doesn't even make our shortlist?
Anyways I've been watching (read: painfully, slowly catching up on) American Horror Story. I think I watched South Park instead one week, tried to catch up, but that Halloween episode with gay Sylar made me give up a few times.
Finally got past it to the real treat though...Rubber Man.
I can't possibly understand how this show makes sense now. This show...that for the first few episodes, about a season of television plot went by every episode. That you only have to look at Coach Taylor's wife and the fact that she's holding back laughs every single scene to know they could not give a damn. That makes me cringe every time my dude from The Practice shows up, because I don't want to see him naked again.
Somehow that show...is starting to make sense and come together...
I think I found a nice balance between laughing, cringing and just enjoying the ridiculous to say, it may not be especially good, but it's an experience that has a few moments only they and Spartacus aim for every week. And that kinda makes me regret bailing on it. But who knows, maybe I'll hate it when it gets back...you know how you get in that deep, TV world cocoon, when you watch too many episodes of one show in a short time and it all starts feeling like gold?
And it feels like every episode now has a good guest star, to get you through the buildups. That
Giants daughter is crazy as hell...making me forget that sweet, down-to-earth girl from Shooter and 127 Hours she used to be.
Got a few eps left, gonna try see what I can get through tonight.

I remember reading somewhere that book two could be stretched into two seasons. I think it could be done. Season 2a could focus on the 4 kings making their preparations to fight for the crown and Season 2b could focus on the actual battle and the aftermath.
What I'm really waiting for is the season that covers Book 3.
Can wait to see the events that happened in that book shown on TV.
BTW Game of Thrones Season 2 starts April 1st.
This weekend I got thru Immortals, and The King's Speech. Complete opposite ends of the spectrum.
Immortals was an obvious 300 clone, but to me it wasn't half bad actually. For once, it was nice to see "Gods" cuttin fools down for a change. None of it was all that fantastic, yet it was relatively entertaining, wouldn't rush to a theatre for it or anything. But the whole entire time, all I could think about was "Superman has a chance" Cahill handled this role just fine. He showed that he can at least handle the physical aspect of Superman, he delivered a few good lines, now, just need a solid script, and Superman may just work out. Really, that's all Immortals came down to for me, Cahill's performance, mixed in with the hot Slumdog chick.
Speech was pretty slow, but I knew that going in, Firth of course was really really REALLY good, that could not have been an easy role to pull off. Serious, you couldn't even tell that man was acting. Just an epic performance by him. I loved Rush tho, he was my fav character, and the scene where he sits in "the chair" was OUTSTANDING.
Dude coulda been shot dead on the spot for that, and he handled it perfectly. That scene was easily my favorite of the movie.
And for possibly the first time, I saw a role that I actually like Bohnam Carter in. I usually pay her no mind, but she was very good in this, wasn't a @#$%^ wasn't a witch to Firth, she was alright. Elegant, classy lady for a change. She did pretty good for herself in a movie with 2 incredible male roles

I was gonna have us campaign for different movies or w/e, but that'll both take too long and considering there's 7 of us so far, be way too many movies to try and cover.
So the way I figure we've got ~ 40+40 movies in the lists.
We keep cutting down, say you have to cross out at least 10 movies from each list for this 2nd round.
And we'll keep going til we're down to about 15 or 20 to each list.
Then everyone votes for the 5-10 best from each, and we'll get our official nominees.
So for now, Nos, JRS, Big J, Kev and Illmatic all need to dump 10+ from each of these lists:
