Some quick things before I turn in (need to wake up for the Rafa/Roger match early, early this morning).
1. Saw The Descendants. Even though this film falls short of my favorite Alexander Payne movie, Sideways, I can see how Clooney is getting the leading actor nod. To be honest, just because of the weak field this year, he may win by default (even though I really hope Dujardin wins).
2. I know a lot of critics are really praising Haywire, but other than Soderbergh's direction and Carano's fight sequences, the film was forgettable.
3. Too busy to get to it, but Fassbender's Shame has been "released."
4. To the four NT'ers who were interested in contributing to my future review site, I'll be sending some updates and asking for suggestions in the next couple weeks.
5. BTW, what are you guys planning for the Oscars?
And to make one last point about Fast Five, my main gripe is that it tried way too hard to be a heist film. When I watch a film from this franchise, I expect to see race sequences galore, story be damned. It was as if Justin Lin was auditioning for an Ocean's 14 film.
