naw and I see where you're going with this but I think it's more along the lines of the Giants dont really have an allstar hitter.
Posey will prob make the team for a while but other than them who we got?
This team had average numbers throught out the entire year on the offensive end.

we win cause of our pitching and praying for timely hits.

BTW our opening day lineup went like this:
Rowand
Renteria
Sandavol
Huff
Mark Derosa
Bengie Molina
John Bowker
Uribe

Uribe was only playing cause Sanchez was injured

along the year we picked up
Torres - no one expected him to do as well as he did)
Posey - ROY, I cant praise him enough really
Burrell - I mean he was our 5th hitter and provided some pop we didnt have *shrug*
Ross/Guillen - more OF's cause Rowand was garbage and to stop the Padres

, they both contributed to getting us here
Javier Lopez - picked up midway thru the season, great pick up by Sabean

obviously you're supposed to get better by adding pieces as a team but you have to admire how they did it without star players.

Cain should start game 1 IMO.  Gives Timmy an extra day of rest where as Cain is well rested and pitches well at home.

What does me poking holes and pointing out the fallacies in the cinderella story have to do with anything?

Unless you are the Yankees it is tough to have a balance, you either have solid hitting or solid pitching.  Most teams are lucky to have one Ace, you guys have 2 (Cain, Lincecum).  With the exception of Posey, the emphasis in Giant drafts' has been pitching and it has paid off immensely.

I just don't see the "castoff's" that people are mentioning.  Uribe was a huge contributor to the team, the fact is that he has been a contributor on every team he's been on.  He is a utility player, not good enough to play everyday, but fills holes and when someone goes down he fills in.  That is his role.

He was in your system, a September call up last year, a stud prospect and by every person who knows the game of baseball he should have been on the Opening Day roster.  It was a bad move by Sabean that worked out in the Rangers favor, since Molina landed on their lap.

Lincecum, Cain, Wilson, Sanchez, Sandoval and Posey were well known around baseball circles.

Rowand, Zito, Renteria and DeRosa were supposed to be stars but they all became duds once they donned the Giants uniform.

Technically you guys did have a Star in the lineup, his name was Pablo Sandoval, he just had a terrible season.

I personally predicted a 4th place finish.  We built this team throughout the season.  Its been a pretty amazing ride.
