This roster just personifies the definition of a team. A bunch of players who were cast-offs or unknowns for the most part coming together playing as one unit and beating a Philadelphia team with all the known starts in the major leagues top to bottom! The Rangers are going to be another tough challenge just like the Phillies but we're up to it! Don't think I'm going to sleep tonight just too juiced about this victory.
I know the media is trying to sell a story and is catering to the lowest common denominator, *cough* casual fan *cough* but are real Giant fans actually buying into this? This whole "Merry Band of Cast offs" Cinderella story.
Can anybody name the castoffs from the Giants?

Yes, Cody Ross was huge in the NLCS but any baseball fan with a minimal knowledge knows that Cody Ross was not a "cast off". The Marlins weren't going anywhere and they knew they couldn't afford to offer Ross arbitration. They put him on waivers, which is common in baseball, the only reason the Giants claimed him was to keep the Padres from claiming him. It was a smart baseball move, can't believe people are spinning it as if nobody wanted Ross and that the Marlins were dying to get rid of him for nothing.
So please, can anybody explain this "castoff" cinderella story nonsense that they are trying to push?
The irony is that there is an actual "cast off" playing for the Rangers, that used to play for the Giants. Bengie Molina was re-signed to the ire of the Giant fan base because they understandably wanted Buster Posey to be the everyday Catcher. It was a bad move. The Giants had no need for Molina, the best move was to get rid of him which they did for a decent reliever, to a team that didn't have a steady guiding hand at Catcher. Yes, Molina is slow and fat, but he has been a factor in solidifying that rotation.
