Its in between SJ and SF so both cities wont have to travel to far to attend the games.. More San Jose residents will feel like they dont have to drive all the way to the city to see a 9er game. I think its a good idea overall, hopefully it pans out.

OK, but us SF fans will have to drive far for a game.
I'd rather not.
Niners sign long snapper Jennings to 5-year extension
By GREG BEACHAM, AP Sports Writer Jun 6, 5:33 pm EDT
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP)-Brian Jennings(notes) will be the San Francisco 49ers' long snapper for longer than he ever imagined.
The 49ers signed Jennings to a five-year contract extension Saturday, locking up a flawless performer on their solid special teams units through 2014.
Jennings hasn't made a glaring mistake on Sundays ever since the club drafted him in the seventh round nine years ago. He's been recognized as one of the NFL's most consistent long snappers since leaving Arizona State in 2000, even making the Pro Bowl after the 2004 season as a special selection by NFC coach Jim Mora.
"In a position like mine, longevity is one of your only accomplishments," Jennings said. "I play a don't-screw-it-up position. It feels good to be loved, to be wanted, to be appreciated for something I put so much time into."
Jennings' job is to deliver perfect snaps into the hands of Andy Lee(notes), the 49ers' former Pro Bowl punter who also holds for kicker Joe Nedney(notes), one of the NFL's most consistent at his position in recent years. Although he never seemed shaky even as a rookie under coach Steve Mariucci, Jennings acknowledged he didn't feel completely comfortable in his job until after his second season.
"I was driving back to Arizona, and I was thinking, 'I can do this,"' Jennings said.
San Francisco's special teams haven't been put in position to win many games during six consecutive losing seasons, but the trio of specialists has been almost as good as possible-and it's all dependent on Jennings. Jennings also has worked out as a backup tight end, and he's more aggressive on kick coverage than the average long snapper, making 53 tackles in his career.
He cites a game on Nov. 13, 2005, at Chicago as among his proudest achievements. He snapped perfectly in overwhelming wind and bitter cold, helping the 49ers score their only points on a day when the miserable club could only complete one pass.
Jennings and linebacker Jeff Ulbrich(notes) are the 49ers' longest-tenured players, both entering their 10th seasons with the club. When he officially makes the roster, he'll be recognized on the 10-Year Wall in the 49ers' training complex among the portraits of the other players to last 10 years with the franchise.
Jennings is among the 49ers' most talkative and ebullient players, making him a stark contrast to most long snappers who thrive on anonymity. He has spoken frequently in the past three years about his newfound devotion to yoga, which has restored strength from earlier football injuries while improving every aspect of his performance-even though Jennings already was pretty much perfect.
"It feels good that in big situations, the harder it gets, the better I do," Jennings said.

keeping the nucleus of Jennings, Lee, Nedney together = the foundation upon which the 49ers will build their victories

You do realize that many teams dont play in the cities that bear their team's name.
The NY Jets/Giants play in New Jersey
The Oakland Raiders play in Alameda
The Dallas Cowboys play in Fort Worth
Everyone is thinking it. I guess I will be the one who says it. I really wish you weren't a Niner fan.
Warriors have been playing in Oakland since 1971. SJ Sharks have been playing in SJ since 1993. SF 49ers have been in SF since FOREVER. It's a pride thing to have the team stay in SF.Originally Posted by i3allistic

I love Candlestick, but the place is a dump and it's pathetic that such a storied franchise can't get a new place to play ball in. The Detroit Lions have a new stadium, the Cardinals got one, the hell?...( I know the Cards went to the SB and have been awesome the last couple years but still....they been trash for how long before that? How many trophys do they have?...we got 5 and we still playing in this dump!) The parking is horrid. But straight up the Mayor and the city of SF messed up big time. They ARE moving. Theres NO point in staying in SF. BUT they better keep the name SF 49ers, NOT SC 49ers...thats just wrong.
49ers Not Interested In Vick
Posted by Aaron Wilson on June 8, 2009, 8:01 p.m. EDT
Although the San Francisco 49ers have been linked to Michael Vick repeatedly in rumors this offseason, 49ers General Manager Scot McCloughan shot down the idea today during a Sirius NFL Radio appearance, per Matt Maiocco of the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat.
In an interview with Adam Schein and Jim Miller, McCloughan acknowledged recently discussing Vick with coach Mike Singletary. However, the 49ers have apparently decided to take a pass on the suspended Atlanta Falcons quarterback.
"Well, I think what happens there, and I totally respect it, is people understand who Mike Singletary is and understand that he has no problem giving guys second chances," McCloughan said. "Coach and I have sat down. We sat down and talked last week. We had an off-week of OTAs and we discussed about Michael Vick and we're not going to go that route. We will not do it."
A few months ago, Singletary seemed to be open to the thought of acquiring Vick.
Then, team officials quickly stated that the 49ers, who once employed Lawrence Phillips years ago, were not going to be a future destination for Vick.
I think this is Sing being over ruled by the GM. I'd love to have Vick on the Bench waiting to show he's back in game shape. Oh wellPreseason cant come soon enough.
Well said. The Bay Area is technically called the San Francisco Bay Area, so the name should stay the same when the move to SCOriginally Posted by JordanXI45
