Weird thought, but I beleive that the US Attorney general should be an elected official, whose is decided by a popular vote.

It would prevent clowns like Sessions being installed, black people and other minorities would be more empower to decide how Civil Rights enforcement happens in this country. And it allows Dems to signal they are strong on civil rights, while freeing presidential candidates to hammer home the economic message harder.

Must be nice. Renting a $50/night condo from an energy lobbyist who was lobbying the EPA for his clients at the same time, using his position to try and get his wife a Chick-fil-A franchise and putting EPA aides on that task, 24/7 security on the US taxpayer's dime, lavish and just utterly ridiculous spending in general, ...
The list goes on and on and on. This guy makes crooked Belgian politicians look like amateurs.
Man is living the life, doing whatever he wants with absolutely zero consequences.

At this point I can't help but wonder what exactly Pruitt intends to do with a $43000 soundproof booth, a used mattrass from a Trump hotel ( )and moisturizing lotion.

Pruitt enlisted security detail in picking up dry cleaning, moisturizing lotion
Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt asked members of his 24/7 security detail to run errands for him on occasion, including picking up his dry cleaning and taking him in search of a favorite moisturizing lotion, according to two individuals familiar with those trips who spoke on the condition of anonymity to talk frankly.

Wouldn't that reduce the voice of non white people though. It seems like 2016-2017 was just a perfect storm of awfulness: Republican wins EC despite losing popular vote, Dems come up just short of getting a majority in the Senate, Senate norms have eroded so that all appointments are simple majority. If only one of those things were opposite Sessions never gets nominated and confirmed.

Usually we find ourselves with either a Democratic President, a Democratic Senate or both and then black and brown folks get a very big say within the Democratic Party and the Democratic party, either through the White House or the Senate gets stop people like sessions from becoming AG. A straight plebiscite would almost insure that the interests of black people are ignored since black people are only 10% of the overall electorate.

Another worry is that an elected AG would pump up conservative turnout among very religious, whites who would then vote GOP for President. It could be like the 2004 anti gay refrendums or the 2016 open Supreme Court seat except we'd have that dynamic every year.

With all that said, an independently elected AG could be very good. Legislatures are terrified of being seen as "soft on crime" while voters can sometimes be more liberal on criminal justice issues. Plus the prospect of a Larry Krasner doing what he's doing in Philadelphia being projected onto the US Department of Justice would be amazing to see.

Such a damn snowflake.

Behind the scenes at the White House, there have been staff-level discussions for several days about whether Trump may pull the plug on the trip and send Vice President Pence in his stead, as he did for an April summit of Latin American leaders in Peru.

Trump complains about traveling to Canada ahead of Singapore summit with Kim
President Trump is planning to fly to Canada on Friday. He is not exactly happy about it.

The president has vented privately about Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as their trade tensions have spilled into public view. He has mused about finding new ways to punish the United States’ northern neighbor in recent days, frustrated with the country’s retaliatory trade moves.

Who knew being president would be so hard and require travel and work?

But at least trade wars are easy to win :hat we only eat American tree syrup here

Trump to depart G-7 summit early
President Donald Trump will leave the G-7 summit before its conclusion, the White House announced on Thursday night, following a day of back-and-forth with fellow world leaders that foreshadowed confrontations during the meeting of the world's largest advanced economies.
Trump will be depart the summit in Quebec at 10:30 a.m. Saturday and head directly to Singapore, the site of his June 12 meeting with the North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement. The G-7 summit is scheduled to wrap up later on Saturday.

Looks like The Bigot™ is gonna have to invite a Russian to the White House now.
