It was an empty promise (gasp!). They had nothing to replace it with so instead settled with smearing Obama’s name for years to come using a gutted health care act (they gutted it btw).

flawed as the affordable healthcare act was, it suffered so much due to republican sabotage. and here we are, 500+ days into this administration and nothing has been done but removing the individual mandate.

Dirty little secret, or maybe not. The ACA was the GOPs idea all along.

In 1989, Stuart M. Butler of the conservative Heritage Foundation came up with a plan that would “mandate all households to obtain adequate insurance.”

Insurance companies loved Butler’s plan so much it found its way into several bills introduced by Republican lawmakers in 1993. Among the supporters were senators Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, and Charles Grassley, R-Iowa (who now oppose the mandate under the Affordable Care Act). Newt Gingrich, who became Speaker of the House in 1995, was also a big proponent.

Romney’s heathcare plan in Massachusetts included the same mandate to purchase private insurance. “We got the idea of an individual mandate from [Newt Gingrich], and [Newt] got it from the Heritage Foundation,” said Romney, who thought the mandate “essential for bringing the health care costs down for everyone and getting everyone the health insurance they need.”

Now that the essential Republican plan for healthcare is being implemented nationally, health insurance companies are jubilant.

Last week, after the giant insurer Wellpoint raised its earnings estimates, CEO Joseph Swedish pointed to “the long-term membership growth opportunity through exchanges.” Other major health plans are equally bullish. “The emergence of public exchanges, private exchanges, Medicaid expansions … have the potential to create new opportunities for us to grow and serve in new ways,” UnitedHealth Group CEO Stephen J. Hemsley effused.

So why are today’s Republicans so upset with an Act they designed and their patrons adore? Because it’s the signature achievement of the Obama administration.

Of all things this is the saddest/most hilarious. It’s obvious what the trade here was. You take a picture with me in an attempt to win over some teen girl votes and I’ll get your friend out of jail.

Ahhh seems pretty illegal
I don't really see anything wrong with it whatsoever. Shoutout to Kim for not only getting herself in the oval office but also swiftly getting her grandma out of jail. And it might've only taken a picture or letting Trump stare at her *** in person. Light work.

The pardon power is one of the few absolute powers. If the president offers or grants pardons in exchange for something like obstruction or perjury, that action would be illegal. Nixon was doing something along those lines but I forgot who he was offering the pardon.
But the pardon would still stand even if it was granted for illegal purposes.

when in doubt, instead of passing real policy, repeal something obama did

and i was going to give away all of the extra money im getting from trumps tax plan to charity like dwalk suggested but the way gas prices and everything else is getting more expensive it pretty much cancels it all out

Macron made mention of a 'G6' for the first time today in the lead up to the G7 summit in Canada given the isolationist turn in US foreign affairs...

Can't go around starting trade wars with allies thinking everything's all good and it's gonna be business as usual...like Macron alluded to,they don't need the US as much as vice versa

undoing all the good things that our first black president did. does that sound like a racist thing to do?

Obama could have pulled a Superman 4 and got rid of all the nuclear missles in the world. Trump would would just build them back up saying Obama hates the veterans and men and women in uniform.

Either that or she's just the typical filthy rich white woman who disconnected from reality, whose attempts at sympathy always explode in her face.

Ben Carson backs off HUD plan that would increase rent in Detroit press conference

DETROIT (WXYZ) - HUD Secretary Ben Carson backed off of a controversial plan that would have increased rent for HUD housing.

If implemented, the proposal would have raised rent by 20 percent.

The purpose of the proposal was to get people to be less dependent on the system, something Cassandra Crutcher who lives in Detroit HUD housing does not understand.

“We staying in this community, first of all, because we don’t have, you know, a lot,” said Crutchner.

7 Action News was able to track down Secretary Carson during a press conference announcing new HUD initiatives.
