***Official Political Discussion Thread***

So now maga wants to save Afghanistan but don’t bring them anywhere near them? Meaning send out troops? What do they want? LOL
Cuz they idiots
It’s like homelessness
“Someone should do something about the homeless”
“What? The govt wants to give them shelter with my tax dollars?”
“Hell no! They want to build affordable housing in my neighborhood?”

dwalk31 dwalk31 you wanna talk about Hillary and/or what biden did in ‘94?
1994? He doesn’t want to talk about what he did last November.

Is this cancel culture?

After decades of disingenuous attempts to reduce the revolutionary legacy of Dr. King to a non-threatening caricature through constant, acontextual references to a single line from this single speech, twisted against any and all efforts to counteract the effects of systemic racism, Republicans have finally dropped any pretense of reverence and turned on “I Have a Dream.”

Who wants to break the news to John McNaughton?

Lololo This just too funny.

Gotta get the homie rexanglorum rexanglorum as editor of Current Affairs, he'll stick to his socialist principles.

Hello capitalism, my old friend
I've come to selectively engage with you again
From each, according to their abilities, to each, according to the fragile White guy’s gut feelings.

Workers of the world, I’ve always felt in my heart that the means of production belong to me and ought to remain firmly under my control.

Who would’ve thought that the guy who looks like a badly colorized Turner Classic Movies Joker could be capable of this?!

I’m not sure if there has been any kind of polling on the Afghanistan withdrawal so I think it’d be interesting to have us in the thread answering just a handful of questions. For those who want to participate, the questions can be answered however you like. Make it as short or as long as you want to.

Question 1: Prior to the Afghanistan withdrawal decision, did you support the idea of a withdrawal?

Question 2:
Did that view change in the period after the withdrawal was announced but before the plan was executed and the taliban started their takeover? (When Trump announced it)

Question 3:
Currently after the taliban takeover, are you still supportive or against the withdrawal? Additionally, what are your thoughts on the way the withdrawal plan was executed and did that affect the above stance on the withdrawal?

I’ll start it off with my answers:
(Note: I’m not American)
Question 1:
I supported a withdrawal at that time but under the condition that the operation was rigorously planned out and not rushed or sloppy.

Question 2:
No. In fact when Trump first announced that sudden withdrawal that he quickly walked back, I recall replying to Dwalk about my thoughts on withdrawal when Trump made that first announcement and I replied with the same answer I just gave to question 1.

Question 3:
My stance has changed a bit. I think the withdrawal plan was clearly not well executed and seemed to lack the preparation to at least minimize the scenes we see at the Kabul airport. While my condition for supporting the withdrawal was not met here, I still find myself supporting the withdrawal. I do not believe anything could have prevented Afghanistan from becoming extremely chaotic during the withdrawal but surely the preparation and the execution of the plan could have gone significantly less worse.

gotta ask the expert dwalk31 dwalk31

I’m still confused on the whole “pro life” doesn’t actually mean being pro life
This flow chart should help:

At this point Nathan J. Robinson is going to have to start a new mildly socialist magazine, under the sea.

Is there a picture of this man in which he does not look like he just came from Matthew Lesko’s estate sale?

I been saying this for years and the things we’re seeing them do to textbooks and under the false pretense of being against critical race theory is going to to reduce the schools in Republican states to the madrassas we see in the Middle East.

Nathan J Robinson is goofy.

BUT

If I somehow —in the age of dying newspapers— managed to make a socialist print magazine profitable, so I'm able to hire people and give them a good wage...

and they wanted to turn it into a co-op where I'm not in charge?

I'd tell em to suck my **** also. I'm in charge until.the day I die

But I guess that's not very socialst.
