this dude Logan running on the end-around gettin a first down. Dude is going to be a problem.
 
the steelers staff behind the scene do a tremendous job in finding these undrafted prospects. they deserve mad props. FWP was obviously the big find but nowstefan logan, redzone redman.

im glad its not up to me to be cutting players come the 5th. i trust that they will do a great job, but if logan gets cut ill be PISSED. just as i write thathe goes that reverse play on the offense! look at that speed getting to the corner that is straight filthy! this guy deserves a spot.

i said it during the first pre-season game, having sepulveda back is the biggest plus. this guy is a weapon and will improve our special teams, fieldpositioning etc hugely. add stefan logan to that mix and it gets exciting.

I agree that this team has tremendous depth. what do ya'll think of joe burnett? does he deserve a spot?
 
Redman looked good but it will be a battle to make it. Logan will nit be cut and Fox looked solid which is good because Timmons won't play Thurs. Thiscould be a great year, not sure about Casey or Aaron next year I could see either scenario happening
 
Tomlin said all cuts will be made today... so we'll see.

I don't think Redman makes it, honestly. He will get picked up by somebody else though, for sure.

Here are my loose projections for who makes it, or who i wish would:

QB: Ben, Batch, Dix (3)
RB: WP, Mendenhall, Moore, Redman (4)
FB: Carey Davis, Frank the Tank (used at FB) (2)
WR: Heinz, Santonio, Limas, Wallace, Stefan Logan (used as 5th WR when needed) (5)
TE: Spaeth and Heath (2)
OL: Starks, Hills, Colon, Hartwig, Shipley, Kemo, Essex, Capizzi, Urbrik (9)

DT: Casey, Hoke, Ziggy (3)
DE: Smith, Keisel, Eason, Kirschke, Harris (5)
LB: Farrior, Fox, Harrison, Timmons, Woodley, Frazier, Arnold Harrison (7)
CB: Ike, Deshea, Gay, Madison, Ratliff (5)
S: Troy, Clark, Carter, Mundy (4)

ST: Sepulvada, Reed, Warren (3)



That puts me at 52... and i even included Redman as a last second addition, considering they will be kinda short at FB and some of these guys will play specialteams I'm sure.

So the last roster spot in my mind comes down to the following guys:

Czech (as Kickoff specialist), Burnett and Lewis (both rookie CB's we drafted), David Johnson (the huge TE/FB who could possibly take Frank the Tank'sspot if things worked out), annnnd a guy like Dallas Baker (who we could dress as a legitimate 5th WR if needed).

There's also Stapleton on IR, not sure if he stands a chance to play at all this year or not, but somebody would get bumped out of the OL spots b/c of himfor sure.

So what do you guys think?
 
Yeah, I dont see Redman making it. Being that we run out of pass formations more and more lately, I dont think we've got room for him. The offense, defenseand ST all looked good against the Bills. I dont wanna get too far into what I saw during preseason being it's the preseason.
 
I pretty much have the 53 identical to Craftsy's. I do have Joe Burnett making the cut though. I mean in pre-season hes been sitting 10-12yds off thereceivers and giving them too much room to operate. but he closes pretty fast and his tackles are pretty strong. he did make a case for himself with theinterception and that spectacular blocked punt. the kid is athletic, has a big frame and i think has the potential to develop into a starter. hes a project inthe works though and might be worth holding onto.

I'm really looking forward to hearing that Logan made the cut. that speed he got getting to the corner had me

on that reverse play. If he could be utilized in such situations it would reallygive the offense an x-factor. We haven't had a return man that got us excited in a very very long time. Improving on special teams and positioning shouldhelp out the sometimes stale offense a lot.

I hope Urbrik can develop faster, i read that at training camp he got the coaches frustrated at times making the same mistakes. Hes still young at 23 and a6'5" 332lb frame.

Redman is gone. sigh. i liked his tenacity and power running, especially on goal line situations. reminded me a little of the bus. it'll be interesting tosee if they'll keep him on the practice squad. with both baker and davis cut I am pretty positive Logan has made it!! (the list isn't complete yet)

i'm pretty sure they can't keep him on the practice squad since he wasn't drafted by us... or i should say, they could.. but otherteams get a shot at him, and he'll likely get taken away from us. forget how it works exactly, but i think that's the gist of it.
 
So, Carey Davis and Redman are cut. Who the hell is our fullback? And with Shipley cut who's our backup center?

Im glad Davis is gone. We NEED a solid running back though Parker gets hurt if he sneezes the wrong way

Backup centers are probably Hartwig and that Legursky dude if he don't get cut. FB...?!?!? We're *+@!+#.
 
Legursky has to stay, being that we cut 1 (Shipley) and Hartwig is the starter. I somewhat agree about Davis though. He wasn't the best but IMO he'sserviceable and our only one. And Logan is on the roster as a RB, giving us 4 now.
 
I didn't like Davis at ALL. I thought he was garbage.

Arians doesn't really use fullbacks in his Offense so it's not like we'll miss him, IMO. They can put McHugh back there or maybe David Johnson ifthey do decide to use one.

I'm kinda tight about Redman, though.

I was watching Tomlin's press conference yesterday and the reporter said when he was asked about cutting Redman, he kinda looked annoyed and was evasiveabout the question, so knows what's goin' on there.

O-line has virtually no depth or experience to it. Unless they go out and pick some vets up, we're screwed if somebody gets injured.

I've been saying this for 3 years now. It's like the FO doesn't want some decent protection. I'm all for building an o-line formthe ground up but we've needing experience and quality for awhile now. They looked decent in the preseason though.

Davis being cut contines to shoe what the 08 draft may end up being (bad) but again 09 may make up for it. I pray Redman clears so he can go practice squad butI have my doubts. Oh well who am I to question this team with their track record? Next draft only line guys first 5 rounds, haha
 
Above is referencing Bruce Davis, and with McHugh on IR not sure about FB. I do like the WR group though

Only guy that was questionable was Sonny Harris, our 6th rounder this year, got picked up by Carolina off waivers... otherwise, we've kept pretty mucheveryone I wanted at least on the practice squad or real roster.

Pretty content with what we did this preseason.

yeah the steelers did pretty well with the roster cuts, it was close to what I figured it would be with the exception of Redman. steelers didn't fare toowell on running in the redzone the past couple seasons and i was hoping mendenhall would be the answer to that problem. but seeing Redman put on his bestimpression of the bus in pre-season got me all excited.

thursday cannot get here fast enough. had to turn down my girl three times on her plans to free up that night, the anticipation is killer

I REALLY wish it was the Ravens we were playin', though. THAT would've been a great game.

The Titans are just whatever to me. I don't have and opinion on them. That might be 'cause I'm still bitter 'bout the Towel
