am i the only dude not trippin about this harden trade.. statistically they're pretty much the same, harden wasnt a great defender so they're not losing that either. he's more screwed than okc is in the long run. went from playing with durant and westbrook to playing with jeremy lin

^they were just talking about nerlens noel going after davis' block record at kentucky, and one of the analysts specifically mentioned davis' ability to block 3 pt shooters shot. he has hella range

Martin is better than most people give him credit for. At this point he's not better than Harden but he's capable of filling the offensive void for Harden. And don't sleep on Lamb either. Dude is gonna be sick in a few years time.

Filling the void of James Harden isn't simply scoring the basketball. You can't be that empty in the head.
If anything, it's Lamb, and letting him develop a few years down the line.

Martin is nowhere near the playmaker Harden is, and he's a piss poor defender. Harden isn't a great defender either but at least he's not a liability. Not to mention Harden is only 23 and Martin has already peaked.

Eric Maynor is going to take over his playmaking duties and pick and rolls with Collison. Kevin Martin is going to take over for his scoring. Jeremy Lamb might end up being pretty damn good. And you have the Raptors 1st rounder next year which is going to give the Thunder another really good top 15 prospect. This isn't the end of the world and the Thunder are still a title contender.

at thinking that is filling in for James Harden..Maynor will play 12-13 minutes.. And a P&R with Maynor and Collison is LAUGHABLE..
Kevin Martin does not drive to the basket often.. Which means he will not produce in a similar fashion as Harden..
Also Kevin Martin is not remotely good as Harden is at defense.. And Harden isn't an elite defender.. So that shows you what Martin is.
Not to mention within a few months Kevin will miss a long stretch of games..
The 4th will be a lot of long 2s and 3s..

Please name a player that they could have traded for that would have filled these "irreplaceable Harden qualities" They basically had to trade him since he wasn't going to sign back with them, so go on.....name a player that could have been had and could have replaced him.

It's like saying you're going to replace LeBron James by having someone who can do each of his individual skills. Have a guy who can dribble and pass like LeBron. Have a guy that can defend like LeBron. Have a guy that can finish and score like LeBron.
It's not that easy. Will the Thunder be good in the long-run? Possibly. But I struggle to see how they are better as a team THIS year.
The NBA game is a win-now mentality if you're a contender. You can't wait around. Chemistry can only last for so long if you keep being a runner-up. Look at how different the Lakers are from their 09 squad. You tweak to find what's right.
You don't look at this move as a move to help them win right now. This was a financial move. They didn't want to pay him that money. They moved him for pieces that will help them in the future. Will they be better off in the future than if they would have kept him? Would they have been okay financially/cap-wise if they would have kept him? Those are the multi-million dollar questions they weren't willing to wait for answers to.

And you don't say.. Well he scored just as many points.. Therefore it's a Zero Sum game... The points are scored in two entirely different ways.. Which means that unless Kevin Martin at 8 years experience completely changes his game that means RW or KD have to change their game.. If not, then KevMart's numbers will go down, as will their offensive efficiency..

Corey Maggette. I can't wait till his scoring punch pushes the Pistons into the Playoffs. Come to think of it, the Thunder should've just traded Harden to Detroit, and gotten Corey Maggette and Rodney Stuckey in return. Since you know, Corey Maggette is such a great scorer, and Stuckey can run the pick-and-roll because he's a guard and that's what guards do.
