Felipe Alou...

he may be old but he is a Latino which would be good for the team especially Reyes... he has ties with the Mets and Omar Minaya through Montreal and of course his son is on the team.

Felipe?? You guys think Willie is too laid-back... wait til you see Felipe! And with the problems in the clubhouse, I'm not sure a Latino manager isthe way to go.

And despite the loss last night, the team continued to battle. Despite giving up the lead after being down 2-0, they came back to tie it up. Then again whenthey were down 4-2, they came back to tie and then take the lead. That type of fight is NOT usually shown by a team who has tuned their manager out. Theyclearly are still playing for Willie.

Blame [Steven A Smith] injuries and attrition [/Steven A Smith] for the poor play right now.
So far so good today. Up 5-0.

I don't care what he is. As long as he keeps hitting like this!

Not too sure, but ill take what he gives us.

Keep it going guys, they need our support in the worst way now.

Try to finish today with a win, and Maine gives us a good chance for a series win tomm

If the Mets come out flat as hell today and get shut out, I don't think it will matter to Wilpon that they won yesterday.

That is true.

Mets already down due to Reyes playing like a ******. He can increase his BA avg all he wants, but the mental mistakes on the basepaths and costly error (suchas today) with Maine being dominant is not a good look. He needs to regain some focus, jesus.

The consistently inconsistent squad shows up again today, in the worst way. Reckless Reyes gets picked off after being checked on twice and then a DP groundergoes right through his legs. What else is new? We go as Reyes goes, and right now he is going nowhere.

Sucks that a nice guy like Willie will lose his job because these sorry players don't want to play for him.

Yeah, but Willie isn't the greatest manager anyways, plus he's too sensitive for NY.

I'll be back home from vacation tomm night, but I will def go to every game (Tues-Fri) because this team needs fan support more than ever right now. Whenthe losing started there was non stop distractions and poor effort, now the effort is there but now its the lack of focus and poor execution (this should havebeen a series win on Friday, man on 2nd with no outs and Reyes gets picked off, thats a game that was HANDED to the Rockies).

It is IMPOSSIBLE for the Mets to play at this poor level forever. Baseball is such a logn season, and although things always look bad when things dont go yourway.....there is light at the end of the tunnel.

On the bright side, there was obvious changes needed, and this losing streak will probably force the issue. If they somehow miss the playoffs this season, thenyou know there will be a TON OF CHANGES for the better come next season with the youth movement.

Guys, I have 3 tickets to tonights game against the Marlins and 3 tickets to Thursdays game against the Dodgers @ Shea Stadium...If anyones interested pleaselet me know asap. Kinda last minute I know but things came up where I wont be able to attend so I figure why not let some of the people in here get them...

Maybe Jerry Manuel, since he has prior managerial experience (White Sox). I can't think of who else they would put in as a replacement.

Jerry Manuel for manager. Julio Franco for bench coach. Jose Pornstache for 3rd base coach.

Reyes would never slump again.

LOL @ some of these replies.

Its just disturbing how undisciplined the team can look at the plate. That RBI single Chipper had a few nights ago to break a tie off Santana a few nights ago,he went to the plate saying "any pitch I get away, I'm smacking it to opposite field....and that's exactly what he did.

Willies job is just to have a lineup, double switches, bullpen management, etc. When someone like Reyes gets picked off almost every game lately since the DCseries, its the managers job to remind him that he doesn't need to take unecessarily large leads when on base. Reyes also needs to mature as a playerthough.

These players know how to play, how to hit, play defense etc....but when you see a lack of effort and clumsy baserunning, you will be on the wrong end of thesegames. You create your own breaks, and if you hustle every game and play a mentally sharp game, you have a chance to win every night with the talent present.

As for tonight, Mets smack the FISH @ Florida, but never beat em up at home. I won't catch tonights game (WFAN for me), but I can't imaginehow bad itwill be if they trail early.
