While Jon may not be a bastard. I don't think there is any doubt that Tyrion would be Aerys's bastard, if that theory is true. He still potentially has Targeryen blood running through his veins though.

The show hasn't delved into a lot of things but who knows if they've been sidelined indefinitely though outside of the stuff they've confirmed.

What people found odd about last seasons's scene with Lyanna at the tower of joy is why she still felt the need to whisper to ned. Maybe the show wants to add another swerve to mess with the internet or she somehow felt someone was watching them (bran time traveling).

The show isn't going to include everything from the books. Bloodraven's history, Dunk & Egg, Blackfyres, there's a lot that happens that leads into Jon's birth. For the purposes of the show, Jon being part Stark and part Targ is good enough. It's a big revelation either way.

And the show did hint at R+L=J. The scene between Littlefinger and Sansa in the Winterfell crypts in the 5th season when he talks about Rhaegar and Lyanna and Rhaegar chose her but Sansa says she was kidnapped. He gives her an odd look like he knows something that she doesn't. Then you have the fact that Ned and Jon never had the chance to speak about Jon's mother in Season 1. Jon returning from the dead and Melisandre stating that he's Azor Ahai reborn. The comparisons between Lyanna and Arya and the fact that Arya and Jon got along the best in the show. Ned being completely against Robert hunting down Daenerys and Viserys because they're kids and then Robert admitting that Ned was right while he was lying on his deathbed. Whether people connected the dots or not is a different story.

Yes but looking at it from the perspective of a non bookreader viewer, clearly there's something special about Jon and his parentage and there's something special about Lyanna because they keep bringing her up. I wouldn't say that the show just dumped his true parentage on the viewers. They put in clues here and there. Even Jon's resurrection in S6 was hinted at in S3 when Melisandre met with Beric and Thoros. A non bookreader might not see the foreshadowing taking place but they know that Melisandre has at the very least become aware of the possibility of Red priests bringing people back from the dead.
