Official 2017 Knicks Offseason thread, Phil Jackson gone

Same, Thought Rubio was one of the better defensive guards ?

Plays good defense and is a pass first pg, he just isn't a great shooter

They been close for what a year? 2?

KP will get over his broken heart. It's a ******* assitant. Maybe next time he won't skip his exit interview.

I'm also ignoring KP being our franchise player.
Beyond KP getting along with Longstaff, fact is Longstaff will get another job in a second. He is young (relatable to younger players), apparently the hardest working coach on the Knicks staff, and before he got to NY (where player development has been the one area we havent completely sucked at during the Phil Jackson reign) he was the player development specialist in OKC where he played a part in the development of KD, Westbrook, Harden, etc. You can say Durant was a sure thing all you want but nobody though that Westbrook or Harden would get to the level they are right now when they were drafted.

Point is this guy is an asset for any team to have and he is the guy we got rid of. As opposed to someone like Rambis, who if he got fired from the Knicks wouldnt be able to even get an interview for a position on any other NBA staff.

We got rid of the young, hardworking coach on the rise who was close to Porzingis and many other players, so we can keep the fossil triangle guru/defensive coordinator with a 29% win percentage as head coach who the players all hate but is close to Phil Jackson. Good look.

And Rubio is a solid defender but hard pass on any PG who isnt on a rookie contract unless the Wolves took Noah's contract.

I'm not crediting KD's, Russ', and Harden's ascension to superstardom to Longstaff.

Good assitants are available every day b.

Nobody cares about that assistant lol. It's the fact that Phil doesn't know any better and is doing dumb things again. If the guy is developing kp game lance and all the other euro players game he should be kept. Minuswell bring herb back though

Then it should be seeded here.

Pretty sure he was fired for a reason and Phil knows it.

**** like KP loves him though? Fuxk that. The story is a non-starter and not about ****.

There are other good assistants that can do the same.

I'm of the belief that if F Phil Jackson made a move, its probably the wrong one. Never heard of the assistant before but I'm pretty sure F Phil effed up

That assistant is actually helping the players get better. Rambis is trash and he's only there cuz he's Phil's boy. That's my point Phil doing things because he's stubborn even if it's wrong. Like why would you keep Sasha here he's trash also but he's also a former player during Phil's Glory days on the Lakers

Knicks getting rid of everyone except the people that need to be gotten rid of

It would be such a Knicks move to trade for a subpar PG that can't shoot to run the triangle, in draft full of potential star PGs.

If Rubio is our starting PG next season, I'm finding another team to root for. Word to everything.

If Melo stays it'll just be more drama. It's not his fault but that would be a tough bridge to build again. The Knicks aren't above a rebuild. It's been past time.

Nothing is ever Melo's fault.  He's a "superstar" who can't even make the playoffs in the East but it's the fault of everyone else around him.  Boohoo poor Melo.
Melo made it to the playoffs twice in the east and the F.Phil happened :frown:

Melo made the playoffs EVERY SINGLE YEAR of his career until Phil came along

But dudes still wanna blame him

Making the East is a pathetically low bar for a "superstar".  You want me to praise this guy for it?  He is the definition of a loser.

In those two magical playoff years his record is 1-8 btw.  Before Phil it was Woodson's fault.  Before that it was Dantoni's fault.  Everyone but the superstar franchise player.

I'm not saying he should win a championship.  Just that "superstars" don't throw themselves parties for barely making the playoffs in the East.
