HELSINKI - Anaheim forward Teemu Selanne says next season will be his last in the NHL.

Selanne, a 10-time all-star from Finland, turned 39 Friday and told daily Helsingin Sanomat that a man that age does not belong in a league like the NHL.

"It is a forum for young boys", Selanne said. "But the right diet, rest and muscle care help to prolong a career. Personally I am injury-free, I feel young at mind and pursue a lot of activities."

Selanne contemplated retirement but has decided to play for one more season.

"The next season is without doubt my last. This time my decision will be kept," he said.

Selanne also pondered the possibility of playing with longtime Montreal captain Saku Koivu. The Anaheim Ducks could be a possible new team for Koivu, who is an unrestricted free agent.

"The chemistry between us two has worked well on the national team. It would be interesting to see how our interacting would improve if we should play together on a daily basis," Selanne said.

Selanne entered the NHL 1992 at age 22 with the Winnipeg Jets. In his first season he scored 76 goals, a record for a rookie.

Selanne has scored 614 goals in 1,237 games for Winnipeg, San Jose, Colorado and Anaheim.

Homer is looking for another scoring wing

first he needs afaceoff/defensive C specialist.

I really like what im hearing about Maroon, he got 20-30 goals potential (could make up for knuble). i think JvR starts w/ flyers unless a piss poorperformance at camp

NJ second line will be centered by either Elias or Rolston. From what I've read it will be one of them play center, and the other on LW with Clarkson onRW. There is no way he's a 2nd line wing IMO. A free agent signing or letting Bergfors play is the only option to me. Clarkson isn't a 2nd line player.

Guess Sakic's not coming back? I guess it wouldn't matter either way, don't think the Avs would really be in playoff contention.

The Kings gave up alot for Smyth. I mean he's solid and maybe they need an experience veteran but that appears to me at least like alot to give up for RyanSmyth.

If he's not too banged up, I think it's a good deal for the Kings. They give up Quincey, but Preissing is just a bad contract for them and they got theAvs to take it in the deal.

i thought it was a steal for the Kings, the deal was pretty much Smyth for Quincey. Quincey was great last season but they can afford to lose him.

VOORHEES, N.J. -- Chris Pronger says he's willing to discuss a contract extension with the Flyers that will keep him in Philadelphia beyond next season, and help keep the organization a perennial Stanley Cup contender.

Pronger, introduced by the Flyers at their practice facility on Monday, wants to end his career in Philadelphia.

i just know that we're not gonna re-sign kessel, and in some last minute effort, we're gonna trade him for some bogus player/deal...typical
