**Official '11 NYK LOCKOUT thread*** lockout over

Billups hasn't been playing the same since his injury. Lost his mojo.

There is absolutley nothing with the knicks playing slower. That's how you win during playoff basketball. Spurs have been playing fast paced all year, anyone really think they will win a championship?

the problem is that we go long stretches of time without a field goal, which is unacceptable with Melo and Amare on the team. Plus the "offensive genius" can't draw up a play to save his life imo.

The biggest problem is Billups is hurt or inadequate. He has been turning the ball over alot. Amare has to have better hands though.

Donnie Walsh chatted before Monday night's game with agent Andy Miller , who represents Chauncey Billups . Miller said he has had "preliminary conversations'' with the Knicks about Billups' future with the team beyond this season, but at this point, "nothing specific'' has been addressed.

Billups, who turns 35 in September, has a $14.2-million team option on his contract for next season, with only $3.7 million guaranteed if the Knicks waive him within five days of the end of the NBA season.

The Knicks are expected to keep Billups for at least the final year of his contract. He could be a valuable asset as an expiring contract, especially if a team such as the Hornets looks to trade Chris Paul before he opts out for free agency in 2012.

But given the success of older point guards such as Jason Kidd and Steve Nash , the Knicks are strongly considering signing Billups to an extension at a reasonable price that would allow them to save salary-cap space in 2012 to address other needs through free agency.

"I think everything's open,'' Miller said. "We're not going to shut the door on any possibilities.''

Billups also has to be amenable to staying in New York; with his family in Denver , that remains a question.

What do you guys think we should do with Billups after this season ? He has a $14m Team Option .

I thin kw e should offer a 3 yrs contract..

Quick Question - If we do not extend Billups. Let's say Deron opts out of his contract. Is there anyway the CBA CAN actually help us out in getting him ?

if there is a hard cap at 70 million then I guess it would help but we would have almost no money left after

He will probbaly be extended. Either he plays well or we use his expiring instead of losing him for nothing.

We should extend him just in case. With a reasonable contract we can use him as a trade piece if it doesn't work out.

Doubt CBA will help us. If one of the stars opts out I think only way they come here is if we dump our entire roster except Amar'e and Melo and sign them or they take a bit of a pay cut.

What if there's a hard cap at 70mil and we sign a 3rd max and say we only have enough money to say sign 2 or 3 more players for cheap what is the NBA gonna do let us go out on the floor with a 6 man roster? or will there just be some rule saying we can't commit the majority of our salary to 3 players?

Not mad at not signing Barron. Who we cutting to sign him anyway? Don't agree that we should cut Jeffries for him.

keep him for next year... i wouldn't extend his contract... next year if he plays well extend his contract or use him as trade bait... but i rather use the money for a big man or cp3 to be honest...

you do realize next year is going to be the last year he earns anything close to 14.2 mil in a year for the rest of his life? if you gave him the option of getting cut and playing for a team that isnt a contender like the knicks for the vets min, or almost max contract level money for the cavs you really think he would take a 10 million dollar paycut? he doesnt need to worry ab ring chasing either he already has his ring.

Relax, man, I'm kind of kidding. But yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if he took a paycut if it was between Cleveland and New York. He's got the ring, but he's also got the money.

Which one of your bastards is NYC Jumpman?
