a tax refund is not getting paid for your community service, number one. Number two, if I have a 100% full scholarship I already get my tuition paid, if I geta pell grant, I already have my tuition paid, etc... Why would I still be FORCED into community service with absolutely NO benefit to me whatsoever....youseem to be missing the point entirely. Its not that doing community service is a bad thing, IF YOU WANT TO AND VOLUNTEER TO DO IT. But you think its ok forthe government to force a person into community service huh?

No one is getting paid $4,000 bucks, are you guys really that ignorant? It says a program that will offer TAX REFUNDS TO COLLEGE STUDENTS FORTHEIR FIRST $4,000 IN TUITION. Nowhere does it say anything about middle school kids that are forced to work, or high school students forced to work. Andagain, just for clarification, A TAX REFUND IS NOT PAYING YOU FOR YOU SERVICES, ITS GIVING YOU BACK MONEY THAT YOU ALREADY HAD AND THE GOVERNMENT TOOK FROMYOU IN THE FIRST PLACE. .

they already do that, and i see no problem with it.
Maryland high school students have required community service to graduate. i did mine, all my friends did theirs, and all the other MD NTers did theirs aswell. i thought it was one of the few things the MD school system got right.

read above. middle and high school students are already "forced to work" in my state to graduate. and all the parents approved it.

your bugging young buck....its not that serious....and In my city we have to do 250 hours through high school to graduate anyway... anyone tryingto get into at least decent colleges most likely did some service....its time for america to step its game up even if it means making young people do thingsthey dont want to....its will teach so much more and help out so much...rather than keep everyone lazy and focused on self....fall back my man....obama ftw

if you want to do community services, thats on you, good for you, have fun....BUT YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO RIGHT TO FORCE SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT WITH YOU. That isthe point. The point is not whether its a good thing to do or not, or whether college students may or MAY NOT get a TAX REFUND (again, for clarification to thedense ones, a tax refund is NOT PAYMENT, it is simply giving you back money that was already taken from you in the first place), the mere fact that a presidentof the US thinks he can force CHILDREN into community services is really quite disgusting.

This should not be mandatory for all students to graduate especially middle school students. Just one year left for me. People need to do for self instead ofworrying about other people coming into help them. Be a father to your own children, clean up your own neighborhoods. I've done a lot of community servicebut the idea of forcing someone to do it is the wrong way to do it.
