my dad say randy wittman at a girls basketball tournament today(his daughter was playing my sisters team) he said they are just gonna draft the best playeravailable

probably has no bearing what so ever but i just thought it was funny. i seriously hope we take mayo though, trade every other guard besides foyeand mccants and we are good to go. foye/mccants/mayo would be such a sick trio

minny needs to offer miami the 3rd selection and any player outside jefferson to miami for the 2nd spot.

allows both miami and minny to end the draft with an inside / outside combo to build on.

First of all, the T-Wolves should not trade the pick to move up under any circumstance. I was heated when we didn't move up either (I've had my heartset of Rose/Beasley for a couple of months) but Mayo defintely has the potential to be another franchise guy. There's no reason to give up any assets toMiami to move up one slot. I'll gladly take whoever doesn't get drafted between Rose/Beasley/Mayo.

I like the idea of adding Mayo with the 3rd pick. Not only is he a great offensive player, but scouts say he's a good defensive player as well. I wouldlike seeing the 'Wolves trot out a lineup of Foye/Mayo/Brewer/Jefferson/C to start the year. At least the team would be young and entertaining.

Even the more recent picks have been huge question marks....taking Brewer

If you look at who is left at the #7 spot I don't think Brewer was the wrong pick. I know what your saying about drafting on upside but I didn't wantto take a player like Noah who has already pretty much hit his ceiling. It's still to early to say we made a mistake anyway...I want to see what type ofleap Brewer makes offensively before calling the pick a mistake.

Telfair, Jaric, McCants and Foye all are not completely etched in stone in this team's future.

Well that doesn't surprise me, Telfair's contract is up and Jaric is making ridiculous money. Foye/McCants might be shoved out of the way due to thearrival of Mayo. It makes more sense to keep Foye of the two because he can run some point, although I think McCants would be a great 6th man.

I think Telfair is improving and is worth giving a 3.5 mil contract for 1-2 years. He can defintely play solid backup minutes behind Foye at the PG spot. The 4man rotation might be a little too much though how would you split that up? Foye 30 min Mayo 25 min McCants 25 min Telfair 20 min? Mayo/McCants aren't tallenough where we could play smallball and play 3 of them at the same time right? It will be interesting to see how many players play summer league as well, Idon't see why anyone would take the time off, hopefully im in Vegas when it happens again. Foye was icing down his knees limping around last summer I knewsomething bad was gonna happen...argh

- Rashad McCants is on his last "try out" with the team this coming year. The team thinks he's hit close to his ceiling and he's a quick scorer who would be valuable off the bench, even on a good team. The problem there is Rashad thinks he should be the #1 starting guard. Something has to give and do not be surprised if you see him moved. He is also another guy where if he stops one guy on the defensive end it will be his first time.

I guess he's been having some attitude problems and doesn't like Whittman to much (from what I can tell, I have no inside info or anything

). Hecould be a valuable trading piece at the deadline, as well as this guy:

Unless he completely changes his buyout demands there is very good chance Antoine Walker will still be in uniform for the team again next season.

No reason to buy him out at all, that 9m expiring contract is one of our biggest assets right now. Hell a package of McCants or Foye/Walker/pick could beenticing to certain teams.

FYI the team still owes a pick to LAC for the Cassell trade that is getting close to having to send over. The team got next year's pick back from Boston that they owed in the Ricky Davis trade, and they also acquired Boston's own 2009 pick as well. So they will have 2 picks next year in 1st Round if things remain.

Remember as well Miami owes us a 1st round pick for our Ricky Davis deal as well

so we potentially have 3 first rounders come this time next year. All ofthese future picks plus the 31 and 34 this year and we do have many trading options that can make our team better. It's essential we get a solid C to putnext to Jefferson. It's going to be interesting to see the direction of this team over the next year, I could see scenarios where we become aggressiveplayers in the trade market and then there are scenarios where I can see Taylor just letting assets like Walker go to waste ( as he did with Theo Ratliff'scontract). We should be able to use these assets to at least get rid of some undesirable ones (Jaric's deal for instance).

Gomes is interesting as well, I have no idea how much he will get on the open market, I keep hearing Boston fans are dying for him back and would give the fullMLE but is he really worth it, espically if we want Brewer etched in at the 3? I don't like the idea of Gomes playing the 4 and Jefferson stuck at the 5.Craig Smith was another solid player for us too, too bad he's too undersized he's probably gone this offseason.

I'm actually excited for draft night and hope we make some moves that are worthwile...

he won't be there at 6 man...no chance.

but i think the only ABSOLUTE keepers are foye and big al.

a foye/mccants/mayo combo would leave us with a pretty small lineup, especially if big al has to play center.

^ I'd like to see us keep Gomes for 1-2 more seasons (unless he's valuable for us in a trade). He made great strides this season, and I wanna see whathe can do this upcoming year.

Not so sure about McCants. Most of you guys gotta realize, during a certain part of the season he was our top scorer, and one of our go-to guys. There even isa "Rashad McCants Fan Club" thread lurking around here somewhere

I don't know, hopefully McHale doesn't F up and do something incredibly stupid

yea, Gomes did have a good season last year...you're prolly right my dude, it's worth seeing how he progresses some more.

McCants is a TOUGH choice though, that would leave 2 weak guards for defensive purposes.

time will tell though, can't wait for draft day, better take work off early

Im getting a feeling there right now is a 50/50 chance the Wolves are trading out of the spot.

A team could give up something decent to move up to #3 to take Mayo. Then the Wolves slide down and grab Lopez or Love, and hopefully bank a high pick for nextseason. The only thing that concerns me with that is what we've gone over before....you very rarely get chances to draft that high in the draft and nab apotential star. This team needs stars, and there are no guarantees you will be back picking even as high as #3 again. With this draft outside of the top 2 andpossibly Mayo I think the #4 to #10 range is pretty much a crapshoot.

Lopez was in town last night for a workout and will work out again today before leaving. His workout went okay, nothing out of the ordinary. But they didnthave him playing against any comp, just shooting around and stuff.

The T'Wolves should trade this pick, and get a talented veteran for their team. All the core pieces for this team are really young, and without thatveteran presence, they will not mature as a group.

i agree, that brook could be a star, but it just scares me whenever the wolves make a draft pick.

seems like Mayo is the more gifted player, i hope we can grab him or beasley (if something should happen)

Well the Wolves were VERY impressed by Mayo basketball and personality wise. Hopefully, they'll do the right thing like Spike Lee, and keep the pick andtake Mr. Mayo.

I'm not sure. I just hope Mayo isn't a bust. I don't have high expectations for him... Chalmers could be a good role player, and the other guy wedrafted I've never heard of... Rasho 2.0?
BTW, I like our new logo...

OJ Mayo- Obviously a great pick, provides instant production in the upcoming season, will play well with Foye andJefferson I think. Gives us instant star production which is nice because it will put MN more on the map....great overall selection, I actually preferred himover Beasley
smokin.gif

Draft Grade: A

Nikola Pekovic- I was HEATED when we picked this guy because I really believe that DeAndre would've been a betterpick. He has a contract overseas that gets him a lot of $ and there is a realistic possibility he might not even come to the US to play in the NBA ever becauseof what he's got going for himself overseas. From what I hear though, he's a very skilled player that could've been picked in the 1st Round if notfor his contract in the Euroleague, but I still think DeAndre was the better pick. We'll see how this guy turns out though. I really hope we don'tregret not taking DeAndre.

Draft Grade: C-

Mario Chalmers- This pick confused me because we have a TON of depth at the guard spot and I think Walker would'vebeen the better pick there because we're kind of lacking at SF...but he's a great player at the pick we got him, the highest I saw him on a mock draftwas 11-12 so I'm glad we got him where we got him. He plays great defense and has a good basketball IQ. I like this pick, but I think it means we'recleaning house a little bit at the guard spot.

Draft Grade: B+ (because of where we got him)

Overall Draft Grade: B+

Love the Mayo pick obviously

Wish we would of grabbed Jordan...he's a defensive-minded center, isin't that what we need next to Al? I like Chalmers but doesn't help oursituation at all considering the number of guards we have.

better make that a Love jersey

seriously, how much crap are they gonna put up with McHale, just cuz the guy thinks he can mold any big man, doesn't mean he can and will...they used thiswhole draft to unload contracts, c'mon! It's gonna take a while for me to start liking Love.
