I saw a pic of dude's ankle at the worst time of that whole thing

Zero clue how his ankle isn't more severely injured.. im glad.. but that pic looked Tyrone prothro bad

BTW: It will take months for the appeal to even be heard and another 3 months for a decision.

Zeke is still playing this entire season.

"the NFL could request a stay which would nullify the injunction right away, forcing Elliott to serve the suspension immediately"

Unlikely but poasibility

True but extremely unlikely as you said.

" league source tells PFT that the league will also request an expedited appeal from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, although there’s no way to know if that will make a significant difference in how quickly the case is heard. The average time from notice of appeal to decision in the Fifth Circuit averages over eight months and an expedited appeal in the Tom Brady case still took sixth months.

  1. The NFL and Roger are at a point where they have to keep trying because they are too arrogant and too afraid to simply admit they made a mistake on this one.
They screwed the pooch on the Ray Rice thing until after the video came out.
They screwed the pooch and the Giants Kicker by giving him one game and then going back later to retro ban him more.
They screwed the pooch by having someone investigate the Elliot case, come back and tell them NOT to suspend him and ignoring their OWN investigator.

1. Is there going to be a "2."? Was this quoted from somewhere that had more to it? Otherwise I'm not understanding why you chose to start with "1."

2. I don't think anyone here is arguing this whole ordeal from the league's standpoint isn't/wasn't funky, flimsy, screwed, shaky or whatever other adjective you want to use.. but those same things applied to Brady's case as well

3. This injunction was the next inevitable step from Zeke's legal point of view, as it was with brady (and I think AP too) who were able to postpone their suspensions through that mechanism

4. The ultimate problem facing Zeke is the same as was facing brady, even if their own investigator recommended something, does the league still have the power under/within the CBA to hand out the suspension that they did?
- I don't care enough to go and read the judgment in Brady's case, but ultimately for as strong as a case Brady's team could put forth, im pretty sure the decision came down to the simplicity of the league having the power

5. This is a major reason why there will be a lockout at the end of the CBA. The owners fought to be in a position where the logos are the true stars and the players are replaceable. I'm pretty sure certain owners and players never envisioned certain rules would ever truly be relevant to them (see spygate.. and Dominique foxworth who was involved from the players side specifically referenced the roles Jerry and Kraft played in getting the league that power) and well now they are. This happens every day in the real world when people figure out the real world applications of laws, which results in numerous court cases and then amendments or repeals and all that. Problem with the CBA, it's a negotiated deal so unless there is mutual agreement amongst the parties to set aside certain terms or the NFLPA can bring some sort of antitrust suit, that's what they're kinda stuck and arguing the validity of the point (the league's power to do what they've done)

- and again from Dominique foxworth, the basis of the league having the power it now does was pacman jones continually getting in trouble but escaping ramifications legally (previously they let the legal system handle things then responded once that was dealt with).

So the driving force behind the power the league now has was to punish in situations where the law couldn't or wouldnt, which should be apparent to everyone is a very very very slippery slope

The problem Brady's case now puts on Zeke's case is that there is now precedent for this whole thing, so theoretically that's supposed to streamline the legal process in the whole thing thus rendering the decision being made at a lower level

You can't depend on the same timeline or even the case advancing as far as Brady's case did.. UNLESS Zeke's team is able to find some other mechanism or "argument" to attack that aspect of the CBA

Zeke will be playing the rest of the season and will be retro-actively punished at a later date

Wouldn't surprise me at all.. could literally come down to when they can get court dates, which is another aspect of the legal maneuvering
