Since he doesnt want to pay his employees, they just make all the small people do it. Sound fair to you?

What in the hell do you mean???

You realize that if that happened, menu prices goes up too? You would PAY more and TIP more because they're getting paid better???

Its not like the restaurant industry is the only one who pays like this....it similar to commission.

I'm a waiter and that makes me disgusted that he would only tip that much. Making the waiter stay there that late serving you deserves way more than that.If I were him I'd be careful coming back to that place. I wouldn't be surprised if the employees there will try and do something to his food.

If I were the waiter at that restaurant, I'd quit and get a better job and quit *****ing, or give service that is above and beyond and thusly be morelikely to recieve "above and beyond" the total i.e a good tip and not just feel entitled to it. And there is never any excuse for purposely messingwith someone's food.

Nope. Seems pretty *****made of you sitting behind the window in the kitchen messing with people's food though. I just hope you are so happy when Karmacomes back and gets you. Maybe you could spend more effort and time being a good waiter and not trying to remember whos who and how much he tipped last timeand %*##$%$ with people's food. And that list Grittyman posted is stupid. Oh so they have such great IQs because they're paying their way throughcollege? Oh, well excuse me.

Are you going to tell me that working until 3:45AM when they arenormally open until 11PM is not "above and beyond"? They kept the restaurant open for him almost 5 hours longer than the regular hours, and he gracedthem with a $10 (meaning that the cooks probably saw NONE of that).

I'll give a great tip to anybody who tries to give good service. A lot of times what you base your tips on is out of their control anyways.
And there may never be a good excuse for somebody to mess with the food, but I take it you've never seen Waiting (which as my mom puts it, is apretty good reproduction of what goes on in chain restaurants).

Since my finals are coming ... I had to do a little research on this. Seems like the restaurant does NOT include gratuity in the bill even if the party islarger than 6. It also closes at either 11 or 12. Therefore I conclude that a $10 tip in this situation is inappropriate.

omg, thats hilarious... its SO clear how much you would appreciate/ recognizegood service if it slapped you across the face.

I'm in the Hotel/Restaurant business and I've seen good and bad service plenty of times first hand... I personally saw the type of things people wentthrough this past week at Churchill Downs to please people like Michael Jordan, Dwayne Wade, Dr. J, Michael Irvin ect... MJ blew over $11 MILLION by the endof the night Saturday. He had his OWN bar and basically his own section of guests and friends... tons of drinks and food ect. He tipped $100 for the WHOLESECTION of employees to SPLIT!!!!! Are you kidding me?

People went out of their way to serve this guy and his party... Churchill Downs runs a VERY high class show down their every year, most of the staff areInterns from Culinary/Hospitality Colleges, they dont get paid much to go down there... and they work HARD, most of them are trying to make good impressions onhigher ups to get a future job offer somewhere.

Theres a reason that waiters/waitresses make hourly wages of 4-5/hour, its because gratuity is something that is and should be expected, granted its expectedwith good service... thats the motivation to serve well, NO ONE should just say "eh well, tipping isnt required... who cares." and walk off.

It is an extremely long week and for a guy like MJ to completely stiff the waitstaff and bartenders the way he did is just simply unacceptable.

...I think it's prettyB-Made of you to talk tough behind a computer screen, but that's just me.

Anyhow...at the end of the day, tipping is just a courtesy thing, so it can't be expected but it probablyshould be.

I've come to the conclusion that a lot of dudes on here are simply cheap and don't understand restaurant etiquette in this country. Iwon't name name's but its pretty obvious ....smh @ trying to justify a 10$ tip on an $800 meal.

If I were the waiter at that restaurant, I'd quit and get a better job and quit *****ing, or give service that is above and beyond and thusly be more likely to recieve "above and beyond" the total i.e a good tip and not just feel entitled to it. You're just cheap. You shouldn't even go out to a restaurant with that mentality.

15% minimum gratuity for the service. If its poor service, then leave a low tip, otherwise leave the minimum at least, these employees make their money offit.

See, I spoke on hearing about MJ's habits before but thats justso disrespectful and low-class. I mean, what the hell? There's no excuse for that in my book. Like I said before too, Barkley used to have to cover for MJwhen they would go out because MJ would never tip fair. Thats the difference right there too, a guy like Barkley who will take care of the people serving himand then a guy like MJ who is just in his own little world of entitlement I guess. You see people for their true colors by the smallest of actions they take...

Like Joka said the Waiter has no control over when you get your food. The waiters job is to make your outing as comfortable as possible without becoming anusance.

Spilled drinks w/o replacements, not responding to request (after 2 times) and attitude are the only reasons for a waiter not to get 15%. the Michael bit Idont understand how you gone meet your ex wife at a resturant and not understand the importance of a tip? dude must have thought that 11 million was eventuallygone end up in his servers hands.

You're just cheap. You shouldn't even go out to a restaurant with that mentality.
i don't know if it's cheapness as much as a sense of entitlement, a general disregard for others and low-class attitude that tries tojustify that kind of behavior. some people like datzlowclass got no clue how the world works and think it only revolves around their immediate needs andwants. that's the way things are done in the service sector. what makes you think you're special enough to make your own rules? if you think that'sperfectly acceptable then it's probably acceptable for others to not want to wait on herbs like you. stick to the 99 cent taco bell menu.

They should be happy that King James even graced their establishment with his presence.

smh@the waiter.

On a serious tip tho, if your a waiter and tired of ppl giving you little tips, go get a better job. I'm tired of waiters complaining.....go to college B.

Alot of waiters are college students

You worth a min of 90 million and u can't tip more then 10$ come on man how can u defend that? This restraunt stayed open until almost until 4 to allowthis fool to have a good meal and all he could pull out his wallet was a 10?

That's tragic. I leave a crisp $1 bill in the tip jar at Chipotle usually. And all I order is a damn $5 dollar burrito togo.

Sounds like you know nothing about being in service. Some people have careers in being a waiter/waitress because you can make very good money. My boy works in a vegas casino and does 6 figures a yr just waiting on people.
