Yeezus - As a Middle Eastern guy with absolutely horrible genes for hops, Im not an expert in verticals in any way.
However, based on what i have learned so far. You'd want to build strong, stable tissues and muscles in your calves, hamstrings, and quads. Not to mention youd also want to work on your core because thats the foundation of all of our movements.
Do squats, lunges, calve and core work. Once you have strengthened and prepared your muscles/tissues for more extensive vertical training then i would guide you into doing an array of plyometric (explosive) workouts that involve a lot of jumping and quick bouts of movements.
Upper Body strength is simple. Train your upper body.
