seaman - im in Santa Barbara.

Yeezus - As a Middle Eastern guy with absolutely horrible genes for hops, Im not an expert in verticals in any way.
However, based on what i have learned so far. You'd want to build strong, stable tissues and muscles in your calves, hamstrings, and quads. Not to mention youd also want to work on your core because thats the foundation of all of our movements.
Do squats, lunges, calve and core work. Once you have strengthened and prepared your muscles/tissues for more extensive vertical training then i would guide you into doing an array of plyometric (explosive) workouts that involve a lot of jumping and quick bouts of movements.

Upper Body strength is simple. Train your upper body. :lol

Plenty of better info in the Stay Fit thread in general.
I dont wanna derail the Laker thread so if you have any more questions PM me.
Id love to help anyone, just dont wanna bore the rest of the people in the thread.

remember to do dynamic stretching before workouts/plyo

or else its RIP knees :(

Good point, but its gonna take someone who hasnt done plyo before some time to build the proper flexibility in their their muscles for dynamic stretching.

Self-Myofascial and Static Stretching would be a good start, at least for 3-4 weeks.

is dynamic the same as static?

LTB time to make an 'ask a trainer' thread

:lol I'd piss off the stay-fit people in the general thread if i did that.
A lot of them know a lot more than i do.

and nah, Dynamic is not the same as Static.
Static is the basics of stretching, where you'd start if you were a beginner/sedentary person.

Dynamic takes proper core stability and tissue extensibility.
Its more athletic and explosive. Not meant for the rookies.

It's Time To Find Out Exactly How Old CP is.

Vote.

CP, even if you dont want us to know exactly... hopefully you will be kind enough to cooperate and give us at least the correct category once the poll is closed. 8o
