JAMES BOND movie thread: RIP Sir Sean Connery - NO TIME TO DIE 10/08/21

watched the most recent mission impossible, rogue nation..

this movie was pretty much just a worse version of that.. with better visuals and far better actors (which makes shhh worse to me)

Ghost Protocol>>Rogue Nation

Writing's On The Wall is the best Bond song of all time.

idc idc

Don't know whether I consider it the best (I'd have to go through my playlist and make sure) but it is most definitely up there and I was shocked to leave the theater and find people complaining about it online. Personally? I caught it on my Shazam app and purchased it within the first few minnutes of the film.

Is it safe to say the MI series > this 007 series?

Apples and oranges.

i thought there was considerably less campy/cheesiness in spectre than in skyfall...

i really don't care for sky fall at all but i enjoyed spectre...

Just watched Spectre (I know I'm late) and man this movie was a let down. It wasn't a terrible movie, but Skyfall set the bar too damn high and this never even got close to touching that bar. I'm a huge fan of the recent Daniel Craig Bond movies and this is not up to the standard of the rest. A few thoughts:

1. Action scenes were all really good, especially the fight on the train

2. That song by Sam Smith at the beginning is fantastic, right up there with Adeles song from Skyfall. I'm gonna have to download it from somewhere

3. Q and Moneypenny aren't in the movie as much as I'd like, I enjoy when they are on screen with Bond.

4. Monica Belucci didn't even need to be in this movie, she literally does nothing and that entire scene with her is a waste of time.

5. Seydoux as a Bond girl is weak as well, wasn't interested in her at all and her entire point of existing is to be saved by James multiple times. She's hot, but that's about it. Guess I was spoiled by Vesper from Casino Royale.

6. They tried to tie all the movies together, and did it in the laziest way possible, with an incredibly disappointing Bond villain. Cmon man, this ruined the movie for me. How are you gonna have Waltz on screen for like 10 min? "C" working for Spectre could be seen from the first time he was on screen and the tension from that was gone right there.

7. Ending was beyond cheesy to me

Like I said, I like Bond, but this movie is the worst of the 4 Craig movies. Quantum of Solace was disappointing, but at least it was enjoyable. I left the theater after seeing this mad I dropped $6 on it :smh:

Im watching it right now actually lol. Its pretty decent. I have to give the edge to skyfall theme song, but sam smith definitely came with heat.

I'm done as Bond, Craig tells movie bosses: Star 'turns down £68m deal for two more films' as bookmakers stop taking bets on Tom Hiddleston being the next 007

Daniel Craig has told studio bosses he is ‘done’ playing 007, sources claim.

The news comes just days after bookmakers called off bets on Cambridge-educated Tom Hiddleston becoming the next James Bond.

Craig is the highest-paid actor to play the role, netting a reported total of £38million for the four films he has appeared in.

He has played Bond since 2005 and helped bank well over £2billion in box office revenue, helping ease MGM’s bankruptcy issues.

Insiders said Craig turned down a £68million offer from MGM studio to return as Bond for two more films following last year’s hit Spectre. The sum included endorsements, profit shares, and a role for him working as a co-producer.

One LA film source said: ‘Daniel is done – pure and simple – he told top brass at MGM after Spectre. They threw huge amounts of money at him, but it just wasn’t what he wanted.’

He added: ‘He had told people after shooting that this would be his final outing, but the film company still felt he could come around after Spectre if he was offered a money deal.’

One source said that executives had finally agreed to let the actor go after growing tired of his criticism of the franchise.

Craig, 48, told interviewers last year that he would rather ‘slash my wrists’ than agree to another Bond film.

But he later said he was contracted for a fifth film and would agree to it ‘for the money’.

Before Bond, the actor, married to actress Rachel Weisz, was best known for thriller Layer Cake, being Angelina Jolie’s love interest in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and various TV roles. Craig has been plagued with a knee injury sustained filming a Spectre fight scene.

The source said: ‘With knee problems and general exhaustion, he felt it was a journey with an ending.’ The studio delayed the next Bond film after Craig committed to a 20-episode US TV adaptation of Jonathan Franzen’s novel Purity.

Craig is not getting any younger and it's very noticeable how much he aged.

Hiddleston as Bond though?

Hiddelston looks like he'd be better for the Q character or a villain.

Overall, Craig's run as Bond has been a little disappointing. I wish the rest of the movies were as great and fun as Casino Royale. Sad he ended his run with spectre which was weak.

Fassbender would be cool if he bulked up a bit.

Not sure if he'd wanna get tied down to this series as he's already part of Xmen, Assassin's Creed, etc.

I think they should give a relatively unknown guy a shot. Try to find someone who is suave like Brosnan was but can also be violent and savage like Craig was.
