i'd like to look at a true JDM project once i'm done with my X, but i'm no where near finished with it.

no, and yes. Depends what you want. Some people buy the STI wing and made a "faux sti" then upgrade all sorts of stuff to get around the same power levels. Ironically, if you get a turboback exhaust and tune, your car is up there with the STI. The only thing about the WRX's is the really crappy transmission.

Preciate the info. Whats a decent price on an '04 STI, $15-20k??
Would it be better to get an '06 WRX or '04 STI, as I imagine they
are probly around the same price?
 
Actually, you can probally get an 06 STI for around 22-25K, if not lower depending on mileage. The 04 has wheels that are 5 X 100, where as the 05-07 used 5 X114.3. It matters if you bend a rim or plan on swapping the rims. The 04 is a great car itself, but i would choose a 2006 or 2005 model over the 05 because itwas the STI's first year. Any STI owner would tell you the 05 and 06 were two of the best years with the 04 and 07 had some problems. Back to the originalquestion, I would get the STI because more than likley you'll want to get more power and handing, and the STI gives you that. I've seen 04's go for$18k-20K, but on an STI, you need to get a low mileage one. Probally around 60-70k miles. IF you have any questions, shoot me a PM.

funkdoctor- i love all of them but my absolute favorite is the 300zx. EDIT-btw does anybody know what they mean by an anemic V6?

Yea. i was thinking of putting in beige interior(currently grey) since it's getting painted white.

The sr20 is the logical choice if you want a reliable car with some power. I think they get around 230hp for black top and 210hp for redtop. This runs around $4000-5000 depending on shop. If you want a straight drag monster, the logical choice is the rb26(or 25) from the skyline. Of course, this requires alot of work and the engine alone would cost double that of the sr20. Then factor in the transmision(which you will need), engine mounts and awhole lot of fabrication probally around $7500-10,000 for the work. It comes down to your budget first, then what are your long term goals. Oh, and take this advice from me. Owning a JDM car is a pain in the ++% when it comes to parts. Since no one actually carries stuff, you have to order it abroad.

Cool. That's basically what I've heard. RB's are more expensive, but have more power. I'm finding myself becoming more interested in drifting every day, so I think I'm leaning toward building a drifter. I'll probably end up doing a SR20 swap. Thanks for the advice! I'll keep NT posted on my project.

I know many of you guys here are knowledgeable with these cars, so I'm going to ask for help here. I'm on a market for a second car and I wantsomething fast and something I can play with in terms of mods. I can acquire a new Subaru STI or an EVO X here in the Philippines but hearing that the newelectronics and stuff messed those new models big time. So I'm leaning more towards the older models and I think I can maximize my use of the car if I getthe older, ofcourse cheaper ones. And I'm quite a purist, I want a small car, powerful engine, manual ****** and that's it,. I do want myself doing thedriving not the computer.

And I saw these cars in a nearby car importer from Japan and they are already converted to left hand drive using a full conversion kit for only around $9000(P490,000) each. Any advice on what to get, mod advice or anything I could do to the car I would be getting?

^ Oy maraming magandang kotse diyan. Meron ba kayong mga Evo 1-6 diyan? Those are pretty reliable...and they're pretty old, or you can get a Galant VR-4 orSkyline...
 
^Actually Skylines are first on my list but the R34s are so rare or the Skylines per se are really rare and pricey here , cheapest I've seen is around$25,000(P1.4M) and that bone stock. I don't know in Cebu, because I heard that these type of rides are all over there. VR4s are also rare. Evos are alsotoo expensive to buy second hand and haven't seen one from this kind of shops lately, mostly locally bought.
