Game of Thrones prequel series: House of the Dragon

Never could get into LOTR or Harry Potter. I didn't watch those as a kid. Definitely not gonna start now.

I liked the original LOTR film trilogy. Lost interest in the later Hobbit film trilogy and never really had an interest in the new series.

Not true at all. GOT was out for a few years before a thread was started on here. Plenty of good shows on TV that don't have their own thread. Plus the Lord of the Rings requires attention. GOT is just straightforward get to the point. Man gets his head chopped off for calling someone's kid a bastard. Lord of the Rings has to set the stage etc.
Yeah, its pretty much why I don't make a new thread for every tv show I consistently watch. Some of y'all cant hop on every train right away.

Plus its a lot to keep up with.

That's why the catch all streaming threads are good for multiple discussions.

Rings of Power isn't trash, it's a beautiful fantasy world with enough to entertain you. It just doesn't do a great job easing you into the story, like they assume everyone just knows. Can't say I know or care about any of the conflict but I gotta watch the season again without distractions.

calling it trash is WILD. the show is visually stunning and anyone who is into the LOTR story/lore will appreciate it

Typically, great shows or movies only get a cult following or appreciation much later and become icons. They are not your typical blockbuster magnet but they build up over time and become classics. Some of them were considered flops to begin with.

It depends cause some are adaptations of books that were great sellers etc. The books help establish that audience for the show. As seen with GOT, Gomorrah, Harry Potter etc.

Gotchu. I stand corrected on that part then. Still believe there are a bunch of under the radar shows that don't got threads.

Under the radar is one thing and I don't disagree.

But my only point was that it's a telling sign if you spent a Billion dollars on a tv show, that has one of the biggest fan bases ever, and you have more hourly episodes out than actual pages of discussion. There's only so many times people can say a show looks beautiful before you wonder where the substance is.

But like sneeker sneeker says, maybe it'll gain traction later on. Who really knows though?

I think after the stage is fully set, which it appears to be after this season, people will start to gravitate to it.

I’m hoping so. If anything, maybe I’ll binge this first season of it before season 2 airs.

Still a bunch of shows higher on the list to knock out and the TV’s generally on football/basketball during the seasons.

I like rings of power for what it is. I don’t know the lore that well like the nerds but I can see why people would be mad who are hardcore.

I think the hardcore Witcher fans are more angry because they definitely deviated from the stories much more. Sort of stinks but again the show is still good. The time jumps in season 1 make it confusing for casuals though who don’t get through 4-5 episodes.

Bro, at least Superman for Thor would've been an even trade for Geralt. But getting a backup Helmsworth to replace Cavill feels like it was brokered by the Pawn Stars guy:lol:
It’s really pissed me off

This not real though. At least according to him. For some reason there’s been rumors about him and Elizabeth Olsen playing some Targeryns. The idea that he’s going to be adult Aegon is ridiculous  That frail boy ain’t bulking up. It’d be better if he was Aegon the 1st, Aegon the Conqueror.

I thought he was leaving cuz the next Superman movie will be made soon and there’s a conflict. Not to join HotD. Not sure Netflix would’ve let that happen.

Watching the first 15 minutes of the LOTR trilogy again gave me a lot more appreciation for Rings of Power and is enough background to get into the show. It started off a little weak and has some cheesy parts but it came together in the end.

The weird way they shift focus between the speaker and listener in a lot of scenes really pisses me off though.

Yeah, I highly doubt Henry would play any Targaryen other than the Conqueror. The show is named House of the Dragon, and I fully suspect if Dance of the Dragons ends with season 4, season 5 would jump back in time to Aegon's Conquest or jump ahead to the Mad King/Robert's Rebellion.

My bet is on Aegon's Conquest and Henry would make a hell of an Aegon I. He also wouldn't be a bad Rhaegar and I got the perfect young Bobby Baratheon to cave his chest in.

How about that new Stark character? Any picks on would be a good fit?

Playing one Stark already. Killing the 50 cent Queens bullet hole in my cheek New York accent. Hed kill that game of thrones accent

The first 5 minutes when they are reviewing the rings and wars are more helpful now than I’d ever imagine they’d be

We kind of expect the source material to deliver us the best show possible but it really depends on the writing and personable characters like Jon Snow, Dany, Jamie, Davos, etc.
