Game of Thrones prequel series: House of the Dragon

Wait, he did???
Just checked his IMDB profile and it looks like he’s acting again, but there was s six year gap between GOT and his next project, which was a movie that came out in 2020.

This is his last movie from 2021 - just posting it because I think the description is funny -

I was just thinking this morning looking at what is on tonight.

Good thing I got a backlog on various streaming services.

For people whove watched both.....how dkes The Rings of Power compare?

Chingo Blings of Power is trash. Slow, slow world building. The production value is high, you can see the money they threw at this thing. But I don't see how this show can really compete with adult fantasy shows. There's certain lines that they just can't or won't cross that Hot D will cross habitually. Hot D is a habitual line stepper and that's what makes it entertaining.

Damn no more House of Drogon? They need to shoot seasons at a time of this can’t be randomly ending and leave nothing to watch. Whack!

Rings of Power isn't trash, it's a beautiful fantasy world with enough to entertain you. It just doesn't do a great job easing you into the story, like they assume everyone just knows. Can't say I know or care about any of the conflict but I gotta watch the season again without distractions.

I know the GoT lore more so I think I got a bias.

I liked both just the same but I found HotD a little more compelling given how the conflict ramped up toward the finale.

Rings of Power is dope but all new characters to me that I can’t connect to anything cuz I didn’t mess with LotR like that. After the dope twist in the finale it left me wanting more.

HotD has a slight edge.

That show is trash can water, B.

Mallory Rubin was talking about “dragon binding” as it relates to Daemon trying to swoon that one dragon late in the season, separate of the other dragon that is his

She said that there’s “no precedent for someone having multiple dragons serve them”

We know Daenerys had 3 dragons

If someone that knows the books could try to explain this without spoilers 👋

IMO it's different. I'm a casual LOTR fan and I enjoyed the first season. VFX was AMAZING, but the writing was inconsistent and was lacking.

I'd recommend checking it out though. The first season does establish certain things from the original trilogy.

Amazon spent a Billion on that and joint got a ~5 page discussion going on after an entire season. Taste in shows is subjective but damn, that says a lot about a show's general interest.

I'll check it out eventually tough.
Not true at all. GOT was out for a few years before a thread was started on here. Plenty of good shows on TV that don't have their own thread. Plus the Lord of the Rings requires attention. GOT is just straightforward get to the point. Man gets his head chopped off for calling someone's kid a bastard. Lord of the Rings has to set the stage etc.

Your point stands but underlined part isn't true, there was a thread from S1 with 100s of posts. Likely a new one was created because folks couldn't find it in one of the transitions to a new platform.

I did not know a different thread was created afterwards, but the date of the one currently in existence is from 2013 when the show came out in 2011.

From the double posts you can tell it's one of those that broke during a transition.

Gotchu. I stand corrected on that part then. Still believe there are a bunch of under the radar shows that don't got threads.
