FOOD THREAD VOL. GRUB LIFE

They can’t totally duplicate the old taste from when they were actually cooked in beef fat. They get close by adding beef flavor to the vegetable oil they use, but it’s not quite the same.

Last time I went to hibachi was years back and the best thing was a sesame mustard tasting sauce they had. Filipino garlic fried rice >

I had dinner at Islands yesterday. I had the Heat Wave burger. It's available for a limited time. It's an actual burger that was on the original menu when Islands opened in 1982. They offered it for $4.40 to the first 100 customers per location yesterday as a nod to its actual price in 1982. It wasn't spicy at all despite it having a lot of spicy ingredients. The irony of my dinner is that the extra patty and milkshake each cost more than than the burger itself.

We took our dad out for dinner for his birthday which was a couple of days ago. Went to one of our favorite upscale Indian cuisine places called Nanking in New Hyde Park. They added a bunch of new dishes since I went last.

Samosa chaat, chilli paneer, sesame chicken for appetizers. For entree I had the Chicken Tikka & bread baskets. Everything was so perfect. Bonus Rose Falooda Ice Cream on the house. It's got tapioca, rose flavoring & some other stuff in it. I enjoyed it.

I can't stand the smell at Cold Stone. Is it from the waffle cones?

Yea, that is the only thing to smell in there. Never turned me off.

What are yall go to's @ Cold Stone?

I rarely go but I either get a base of

Cookie Dough Ice Cream
Coffee Ice Cream
Vanilla Ice Cream

+

Cookie Dough and Oreos or Brownie (Mix In)

None of the pre-made combos look good to me.

How do y’all make your oatmeal? I honestly don’t really even enjoy oatmeal but I’m looking for more breakfast options
If I’m gonna have any I just mix an instant packet with yogurt but I’m gonna try making some non instant ones, any directions for that? Idk about stone cut, rolled, etc

This looks like I’d like it

Quaker Oats Steel Cut 3 minutes. Follow the directions then follow this recipe. I pass on the nuts but dice the Apple, real maple syrup then touch of cinnamon on top.
