Dressing Better Vol 2.0

Serg I think that would be a nice look. Play it up with black shoes and a white shirt. That izod tie would look good with it.

Jason, I went ahead and tried it and I think I may try wearing this tomorrow, the pictures show how top heavy I am, and it's something I'm really trying to slim down on, stomach and waist has gone down, just not there:

That looks damn good. Good luck on the weightloss! I'm doing the same. Running every other day. Can't wait to dress better once I get to my goal weight.

Outside of the obvious, I have no idea what's wrong with the way some suits fit.
Looking through the Tailor's thread on SF these guys are noticing details that when corrected makes the fit look so much better. I would like to get to that point one day

They are professionals man, some of them been altering suits since they were young children, they have a 6th sense now

Carlin, Jason and Wis thank you both! I actually ended up going with something else as it fit our theme for Senior Week better for "Career Day" but not to say the look is not professional looking. Probably will be wearing this on Thursday for Valentines Day instead though.

If any of you have tips on how decrease the size of my chest, as it is where I am top heavy that would be great.

That camel blazer is nice up there.

Man I need some new APC's, my Petit Standards I bought las April are too tight on my thighs after two soaks :{ Makes me mad because they were progressing nicely. An other recommendations besides APC's though? I like raw denim, can't really go the pre distressed route anymore :lol

Nice fit sarteaga

Interesting concept, similar to online MTM suits - http://dappered.com/2013/02/in-person-mantorii-custom-shoes/

Family photo of AE - definitely time for more Shell

Wis, Carlin, Serg! Someone give me the OK to do this.

Wish they had more pictures of the options, and examples of the shoes.  Leather does not look too great on the Dappered pair.  Too risky imo, especially since there are some good options at that price point.

^ Wearing that to class seems a bit too formal... Especially with the tie, just looks like you're trying way too hard.

Outfit looks good but I wouldn't wear it to class, that's all.

Great fit Adrian.

@Columbia, when you're a senior and go to a good school, a lot of kids dress nicely. Some just do it much better.

There are those who like to dress up and those who are forced to dress up. The difference is clear. Adrian would wear a tie with basketball shorts to go buy bread at the local market, man :lol

I dig the tie and outside ambiance. I still need to experience fall in the northeast.

You must be new here

...It still brings up an interesting point though... Why wear that to class?

I dont think im going against the viewpoint of anyone in here by saying that part of the purpose of "dressing better" is that in some way people are judged based upon their appearance. The clothes a person wears sends a message to those he or she encounters.

Looking sloppy and underdressing is widely viewed as frowned upon, but overdressing is acceptable? The niche community of people who appreciate attire may see it as positive, but to those who arent into that area it sends a much different message.

I'm not trying to say everyone in a classroom should be in pajama pants and crocs. Id much rather be in a classroom/setting with people dressing nicer than the opposite but I do believe that if one end of the spectrum is frowned upon, the other end of the spectrum is open for criticism as well.

You're thinking about this too hard and I don't think anyone in this thread wants to go there again.

Unless there's a dress-code for his class, he isn't doing anything right or wrong. That's his style and the way he felt like dressing for that day it doesn't matter where he's going unless there's a dress code right?

Did I ever use the words right or wrong?

I think dressing appropriately for the occasion depends on what that person cares about. There's a difference between how YOU feel and how others perceive you, and what matters to you more (let's be honest, we ALL CARE about how others view us, whether it's a little or a lot) will dictate how you dress yourself. If you would much rather overdress and feel good about yourself, that's completely fine. However, if you would much rather not be perceived a certain way by the way you dress (in this case, overdress), then it would be wise to dress yourself appropriately.
