Dressing Better Vol 2.0

Tuxedo styling should avoid the following:

Notch Lapels
Pocket Flaps
Single Vents
2 Buttons (go 1 button unless you have a DB)
Belt Loops (side adjusters or buttons for braces should be used instead)

1000

Thanks for this - I had no idea. Rules out the Indochino I posted (2 buttons).

It's funny - I went to a high-end store and checked out their Armani tuxedos and the pants had like a damn near 16" leg opening :x

I need something trim and slim, hence why I wanted to go with SLP. It's just not feasible.

I'll look into Suit Supply.

Pretty much on point, but I've seen some nice tuxedos with pocket flaps.

If you want trim and slim, then I'd suggest you check out Ralph Lauren Black Label.

Surprised you had a hard time with Armani. They make some really slims suits as well.

Flyknit, I mean you could easily change the details on that Indo before purchasing. That's the beauty of MTM, you have those options at yoru disposal.

I have seen it, but it's just out of place in terms of traditional tuxedos....then again, traditionally speaking, tuxes/dinner jackets should be ventless. I just won't advocate that. Currently I have a midnight navy DB in a 4 x 2 stance that I grabbed from the MAB SS. I actually might be getting a navy shawl collar as well (pointless, but I'll explain later if it actually happens).

Ideally I would say you should start with a solid black, peak lapel, single button tuxedo. Shawl collar also works but is limited to only being worn with a bow tie.

While SS does offer what I mentioned above, my only gripe is that the lapel is grosgrain and the buttons are satin. I would want this to be the same throughout the garment (including trouser stripe).

One member on here actually had the audacity to tell me he was going to wear a notch lapel tuxedo to his wedding....I straightened that up for him real quick (real effing quick :lol )

Thanks for the advice. I'm such an idiot - I didn't realize how customizable Indochino's tuxedos were.

Their showroom is around the corner from me so maybe I'll get off my *** and pay them a visit.

Thanks for help - I appreciate it!

Thinking of trying out Gustin out for a pair of grey raw selvedge denim. $80. Anyone have experience with them before? I like their business model a lot.

Walked down to Paul Stuart during lunch and saw these nice shoes/boots. Reminds me of chukka toms and dessert boots. They only had a size 8 left--$80 too

Speaking of UK, I ordered a 3rd pair of the Paul Smith chelsea boots. Black leather is permanent collection but I was lucky to find them on sale. Really digging the pairs I have (though I think I am going to dye the red to black or a darker red). but you need to have a really narrow hem to pull them off. I'm talking like 6" - 6.25" max.

Where'd you find them on sale? My girl saw me looking chelsea a few weeks ago. It was the Balenciaga pair and she gave me that look like, "you're not seriously considering dropping a grand on boots." Then she was trying to tell me my jeans couldn't lay over these boots and that I'd have to wear jeans that stop at the tongue of the boots. I told her she was wildin. Still want a pair.

I thrifted a pair of Berluti's once. $4 iirc.

Only sold em for about a hundo due to a cut in the leather. Oh well, profit is profit ;)

Joints come in tan suede?

Basically searching for alternatives to the SLP boys, because i'm not RFX.
