I believe he's on a 1 year contract and he'll be battling for a spot on the roster onces he is able to practice... CB position looking booked up

49ers' Asomugha to be 1st cornerback off bench

Fangio said Asomugha has overtaken Tramaine Brock  for that role, which had been filled by Chris Culliver  before he sustained a season-ending ACL tear in training camp. Asomugha jumped ahead while Brock was dealing with an injury the past few weeks. Asomugha, who wore a noncontact jersey in practice Tuesday, is himself at less than full strength.

If Asomugha falters, the 49ers could turn to Brock or, later in the season, Eric Wright, who reported to the team this week and will spend the first six weeks of the season on the non-football injury list.

Nnamdi better be ready because it's going to be nickel and dime for majority of the season especially opening the season vs GB.

Willis remains on schedule to play Week 1, “even if he has to play with a contraption” on his wrist, Fangio said. Willis practiced in a non-contact jersey, along with Asomugha (undisclosed).

Fangio launched a campaign to get Tom Rathman’s name included among the 49ers’ Ring of Honor at Candlestick Park (and presumably Levi’s Stadium). “He’s had a tremendous impact on the organization for over 20 years,” said Fangio, who coached against Rathman when he played in the 49ers’ backfield from 1986-93. Rathman is in his 11th season coaching the 49ers’ running backs.

Offseason acquisition Dan Skuta is a “very similar player” to Haralson, said Fangio, who added that Skuta likely would platoon as the third outside linebacker. Corey Lemonier and Cam Johnson are the other backups.

Ian Williams also has locked down a starting spot, replacing Isaac Sopoaga (Eagles) at nose tackle ahead of Glenn Dorsey, Fangio said. Williams has never started in his two-year career and has appeared in only four games.

Patton is that dude. Been happy about us picking him from day 1

Patton is the truth..This is what it looks like for a young WR to take advantage of the PT he's getting. Jenkins was a bum..

did they release him?

The way it's being reported, he decided to walk away and now the Niners will obviously release him.
QB Seneca Wallace told the 49ers this morning that he's decided to walk away, and they're determining how to phrase the transaction

The 49ers intend to release QB Seneca Wallace and will not play him tonight, league source says.

That was posted at 6pm, it was reported Seneca told them in the morning he wasn't showing up.
