2016 Official NBA Off-Season Thread: Former Greatness

There was even reports that the reason Noah didn't travel with the team after he got hurt was cuz of Jimmy. :lol

If you followed KC Johnson or any other Bulls writers then you would know it's been a split locker room all season.

There were multiple reports that there was turmoil on and off the floor within the entire locker room.

With the comments Butler was making publicly...you really think that off the floor there wouldn't be any problems?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that was stemming from Hoiberg/Thibs?

Joe Cowley reported things would have become uglier if Noah didn’t get injured as the feud between the two was already brewing.

“I talked to several people that have indicated that the best thing that happened to the Bulls, because it could’ve wound up worse, was Joakim Noah going back to New York for his rehab and staying away from this thing. Because he would’ve become a locker room cancer. He had a couple veterans on his side, and I’m telling you right now: if he didn’t get out of town when he did, the little comments and snide remarks to Jimmy Butler…Jimmy wasn’t having any more of those, and you would’ve seen fists thrown.

[Later he referenced it again] I’m telling you, the idea that Noah would’ve held this thing together if he was around…it would’ve instead just been a bigger divide…Jimmy gave Joakim a couple passes at first with his little jokes but told Noah ‘these comments are going to stop.”

The divide apparently began a few years ago and Butler has been sick of Noah’s antics with the hope of taking over the team following his new contract extension.

“This stuff has been festering for 2 years. Last year, when Noah and Derrick Rose were allowed to get away with being pulled out of drills, not having to work as hard….Joakim being convinced by the front office that Thibodeau wasn’t good for his career anymore.

Then you had Jimmy and Pau. Pau is very good [at politicking], saying “you know Jimmy, look at us busting our ***, and look at [Noah and Rose]” to get Jimmy riled up.

Jimmy comes in this year and declares himself the leader, and he has a point. His mindset is: I’ve been paid, I work like it, I take in the young guys, I bust my butt in practice and try and work on my game. Meanwhile [Rose and Noah] get away with whatever they want.

So that started it. Now, once you start beating your chest that way and you have young guys behind you, you slowly have a divide.”

This piece sounds very anti-Noah...but you get the idea. There was a divide and Jimmy was at the center of it.

As far as I know Noah always been the type that opponents hate and teammates get along with. If Noah has a problem with you...

So now it's Jimmy's fault? He was probably sick of Deitrick getting injured breathing.

Jimmy B got irritable once Thibs got fired and Hoiberg came in
He even told Hoiberg to bring back the Thibs' offense sets :lol

Nope. Jimmy got buck in the locker room, repeatedly disrespected players and Fred and his staff in film sessions throughout the season.

The first injury Jo had he was around for it and wasn't feeling it but worked to get back to be on the squad.

Then the second one happened and Jo was like man F this if I stick around I'm a end up putting hands on Jimmy. It was well reported that it almost got physical between them. The old guard (Jo / Taj / Kirk ) were all on the side that this was still Derricks team and that  he demanded more respect from Jimmy and so did the coaches, that Jimmy had overstepped his boundaries. The young dudes were all on Jimmys side.

It was a mess and Jimmy was A LARGE part of it.

I'm sad Derrick is gone honestly, been following him since I was in HS, we're the same age, were in the same Chicago Public School Conferences for sports, I used to see him all the time when I played baseball at my HS (Clemente) against his  (Simeon) He played his freshmen year too and then stood solely playing hoops. He's the single most important and dominant Athlete in Chicago SINCE MIKE..  (up until the injury then Kane and Toews took over) But I just felt like the city turned their back on him. He brought the city hope and revitalized the Bulls The franchise / the fans. He deserves a clean slate and hope he comes off and kills next season.

Derrick Rose had nothing to do with Butler making some of the most primadonna comments one can make over the past couple of years. I haven't spent a second in that locker room and can tell there had to have been some turmoil in there just based off his comments.

Dude turned Hollywood over night it seemed

More Jimmy Butler stuff:

“His rise has engendered some minor hard feelings within the team,” wrote ESPN’s Zach Lowe in December. “There is a sense that Butler relishes the trappings of stardom a bit too much, and that he doesn’t do enough to support his teammates, as a playmaker or a cheerleader. The Bulls have been unusually vulnerable to infighting when things go bad during a game. They are not a team that socializes together off the floor.”

Enjoy that cancer, illmiatic

It sounds like he was out there working hard and improving his game and actually leading his squad while Deitrick picked out his next uniform from the Men's Wearhouse. I don't blame any rookie for siding with Jimmy because they probably saw the work he was putting in to improve his game while all they knew about Detrick was what they saw from old highlights on Youtube. Could things have been handled better? Yes, but the lengths at which people try to deflect blame from a dude that quit on his team after being medically cleared is amazing.

10 mil for delly?

in what world b....

damn, just like hockey....i guess teams need an enforcer out there to clip ppl

jimmy gonna have to do it all and win immediately

How is Noah on your team and he doesn't like you? Noah seemed like the type of guy everyone hated if you weren't on his team.

Philly tryna trade nerlens for the #3?

IDK why they didn't try to do this much earlier. Dunn actually has picked up some traction recently.

Whoever drafts kris Dunn will come up big time

Dunn seems to be the most NBA-ready player in the draft.

We all should be seen this coming when months ago they dismissed Jen Swanson, the lady who oversaw Derrick's acl rehab and promoted Butler's trainers :rollin

And even more obvious when Jimmy and Rose were both in LA this summer but never practiced together.

You guys hearing that? They were both in LA this summer but didn't practice together. But you let Jimmy tell it, they are boys. Get outta here. Lol

If the Celtics draft Dunn, what does that mean for Thomas? I'd trade him if I were Ainge. Short guards don't really stay too long in the NBA.
