Some of ya'll clearly didn't watch 30 for 30: Broke

True story. Visited the NBAPA office in New York a few years back, back when Billy Hunter was over it. We were in his office, and he told us this story about how Isiah Rider's mother called him crying, begging him to find a job for him somewhere in the NBA. Srs.

Not to say that Isiah Rider is broke or something like that, but stories like that are rampant in the league according to him. Hell, that's what the NBAPA is there for.

The difference is these NBA players have assets. Their cars, chains, shoe collections, memorabilia. They can sell those assets alone and stay afloat for 3 months. Whereas the common everyday person doesn't have those same type assests.

An NBA player has himself said that a large amount of the league lives paycheck to paycheck. What is there to dispute after that?

Bruh.

You have to be trolling if you don't think athletes are brook or living pay check to pay check.

You have to be.

they deserve it? am i supposed to feel bad?

players will strike, quote me on it

Why will they strike when they will be getting paid more?

getting paid more from what? the current CBA is for 10 years... whos getting majority of the money from it... the owners.

Its 50 50 owners get have and players get have . --

5 yrs though.... That ain't paycheck to paycheck
true it aint broke like in the sense we think of broke ei... food stamps, out trying to get a obama phone.... filling for section 8 rental asst. But if you only made 20-25mil... and you come out the gate spending half of that.... to which you havent even recieved yet... alot of those end up basically living a life of credit debt, trying for loan consolidation etc.... and owing on cars/homes/jewelry that has been seized... And dont even mention child support/alimony.....

Which Player?
Jerry Stackhouse
Fans perception of NBA stars, they are all young, arrogant, spoiled millionaires who love to flash their millions. However, the NBA lockout is damaging many of the players’ livelihoods on a daily basis. According to Jerry Stackhouse, “many players live paycheck to paycheck.” If this is the case –after just one month into the lockout– most players are feeling the pinch, but the five players who stand to lose the most money if the lockout continues are Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett and Rashard Lewis and Gilbert Arenas.

I get what your saying but I think we just have different meaning of broke

The irony of Zyzz saying that a thread is being derailed by other posters and the mods should come in and make a sweep :lol

My 'paycheck to paycheck' is a little different than NBA's 'paycheck to paycheck'.

And my 'broke AF' is CERTAINLY different than NBA's 'broke AF'.

No sympathy from me.

I get that some of them came from the place I'm at, but... I'm still here. And I'm not even looking for sympathy for my place; I'm good.

But me feeling sorry for them because they have to pour milk in their cereal instead of Cristal? Never that. Feeling sorry for someone who's broke as a result of mismanaging MILLIONS? Never that.

Still nah.

fwiw, some of these dudes get legit swindled by "financial managers". a lot of these guys have no money, then fancy suits telling him they can increase their money tenfold, and these guys aren't educated enough in the industries to know what's going on.

hell rip...and unrelated but even tony gwynn was broke...

hell his assets equaled to roughly 700k or so, yet his liabilities was somewhere around 1.5 million, not to mention the back taxes he owed. Dont know if ppl dont count this as broke because theyre famous, on tv or whatever. But if your debt/liabilities are 2x hell 3x more then what you earn and the total of ALL your assets are, YOUR BROKE!!!!

Repped. Imma watch this. Found it on youtube.
To me its unfathomable to go from getting 5+ mill each year to going broke after a few years.
Gotta manage your money right, these dudes just wanna stunt tho.

Living paycheck to paycheck in the nba is not the same as living paycheck to paycheck in the real world
