Interesting news from the ACC and SEC about any scheduling of BYU. For those who haven't read about it, those conferences basically said that scheduling BYU does not fulfill the requirement to schedule a power five conference school.

Personally, I think it's pretty silly to label schools like Rutgers, Colorado, Kentucky, and Kansas as "power five teams" when we all know that is not accurate or reality. I wonder how much this will affect BYU and its decision to remain an independent.

Exactly. From what I understand, the Pac-12 has shown little to no interest in adding BYU to the league. I don't know about the Big 12. I can understand why a conference wouldn't select them (scheduling conflicts, religious affiliation), but people gotta understand that BYU has a national following and its fans will drive for hours to see them play.

I'd put BYU Athletics (competitively) on par with a team like Oregon State, Iowa State, and other mid-tier conference teams. Not terrible, but far from elite or even great.
