Russ was just so bad in the bubble, especially when he came back for the playoffs and then the image of him cussing out an empty arena, only the wives and children's section, is making everyone go back and revisionist history his MVP year. He was even clutch that year which hasn't always been the case.

what is even worse is he got beat by a vet. minimum guard and his barber brother.

He’s a C lol him avg 10+ boards isn’t players boxing out for him. A big also having 9 asts a game is rare

He's leading the league in PER like Russ did in 2017.
He IS a center, so averaging 10 boards isn't as impressive.
Averaging 9 assists as a big is about as rare as a PG averaging 11 boards no?
On a middle of the road team in the West like OKC was as well.
Not to mention Russ being far and away the most clutch player in the league that regular season on top of his statistical prowess which Joker doesn't have in his favor.

Y'all want it to be one way, but it's the other way.

Yes it is just as rare. How often have we seen playmaking bigs like Jokic? What Brad Miller?

NBA.com has that man 4th

Embiid is 5th and Dame is 2nd so I’m taking it with a grain of salt.

Why Steph on the list at all? Warriors are 9th. Luka too.

Everyone else’s team is 5th seed or higher

If we’re talking about propaganda

Cool what does that have to do with a regular season award?
It shows that the numbers arent empty and actually leads to winning. You can see it with Russ that him dominating the ball wont win .

also people were clouded by the triple double narrative

I like how instead of #3 on the sixers running to get in the middle of it and break it up like they do these days, yo went to hold off the other dude (#25) to let em fight  :pimp:

Him dominating the ball and playing the way he did was leading to wins in the regular season though. Which is all that matters when talking about regular season MVP. Y'all love to try and conflate the 2.

Didn’t they win a significant amount of the games that Russ got triple doubles in the year he won mvp?
First ballot....move on. Nothing to see here.

Not sure if that’s the same guy that held dude back. He slipped around real smoothly if it is.

Yes Russ might've been cheesing that season but you can't really argue the results. He was great to watch and came up big all year

What the hell are you talking about? Dame is 2nd on the list and his team is 6th.
