I think you guys are reading far too much into this. 42% is an enormous decline, it means that almost half of Brazil 2014's viewership isn't bothering to tune into this tournament. It means that 42% of Americans who watched this thing four years ago, would rather watch baseball (which is essentially watching paint dry) this time around. I'm sure that the emergence of streaming, along with Fox taking the rights from the "Worldwide Leader," have something to do with it. At the end of the day, however, you don't lose half your viewership unless something drastic (like maybe, I don't know, your country failing to qualify) happens.

Did Benz say he was leaving? That tweet just looks like he's celebrating 9 years at the club

Crazy that he's spent damn near a decade at Real :wow:,never expected that when he left OL. Now he's a legit club legend

*Hmm...

The way he worded that tweet sounded like he was leaving. Well see

Don't think people realize how long that core of Ronaldo, Ramos, Marcelo, Benz & Pepe has been (was) together, hard to believe Bale & Isco are entering their 6th season, Modric his 7th, Varane his 8th with the club

definitely seems like a “Thank you for everything” tweet.

Ancelotti fishing for his new Napoli. Benz will be a good fit for Serie A

That's because CR7's arrival at Real Madrid still seems like it was just yesterday. I remember how big of a deal it was at the time that a club spent close to 100m Euros on one player. Nowadays, that figure can seem like a bargain.

In hindsight that was the biggest bargain/greatest ROI of all time :smh:

It looked like a steal by the time Bale broke his record a few years later and now it's just highway robbery

Dudes are about to make profit off him at 33 too after all the trophies

West Ham have been probably the most active prem club since Pellegrini took over

Not really.

Before la Decima, CR7 only won one Liga title, a CDR, and a Spanish Supercopa with Real Madrid. Not shabby, but hardly what Mr. Perez expected from his brightest "Galatico."

yeah not sure Steal is the right word. I really just think he's been one of the few players to completely live up to/warrant their price tag.

You forgot to add the Ballon D'or he won before la decima. That statistical return (2 seasons of 50+ goals and a 60 goal one) along with the silverware you mentioned was def enough for his fee to be considered a bargain by the time Bale, who hadn't won anything yet, went for more.

Sorry rola, but a domestic title, a CDR, and a Supercopa isn't really what Real Madrid had in mind when they dropped 100m (the figure at the time, it's much more when you adjust for inflation) on CR7. This is Real Madrid we're talking about, they aren't exactly lacking in domestic titles.

An argument could be made that Ronnie's first three years at RM were a disappointment.

We'll have to agree to disagree then because the Bale deal def made it a bargain imo when the 2 weren't on the same level at the time of their transfers

Your trophy argument leaves out the fact that he joined Real at a time were Barca were going on one of the GOAT runs of dominance we've ever seen...that's pretty important context.

It might be, but you guys are extremely results-driven when it comes to analyzing Messi. Nevermind that he won a Spanish double this season, no UCL=failure. Nevermind that he's Argentina's all-time leading goalscorer, no trophies=failure.

I'm simply holding CR7 to the same criteria. Did he put up nice number those first three years at RM? Absolutely, but the fact of the matter is that they brought him in to win la Decima, and he came up short three years in a row until they dropped 100m on another Galactico.

Why are you creating an artificial time frame of until la decima, why not include the 3peat?

Yeah he specifically mentioned up until the time Bale joined.

I didn't create it, rolaholic rolaholic did.

Once again, it would be helpful if you took the time to read through the thread for context before getting triggered by an individual post.
Just asking, not triggered at all. Ain't nobody got time to read every post b.

Maybe Ronaldo didn't live up to 100 before La decima, after we just completed #14 he certainly has
