I have a 26" chain with a ~1.5" piece on it and it still looks right. I tried it on a 24" and the chain was too short for my liking.

I'm not sure on the weight I got it written down somewhere, but the chain is 3mm 26" and the pendant is like 1.5"

Yeah it's subjective, but like I said if he really wanted to make it work it could be done. 

Couldn't they just make a new bail for the piece to accommodate the chain if you really wanted it? 

His baby jesus mold is around the jewelry district in LA. I saw at least 2 stalls that had it in their cases when I was there last year, might be a couple more with it now. It looks booty in person though...

They put them for sale at $650 so I think they would offer ~$450

I have one on my jacket. The pin is about 1" tall and 3/4" wide if that helps you decide.
