For $1000 you're looking at about 1ct. (0.50ct ea.) stones. Probably SI, G-J color. Those stones will be about 5mm. 

Not sure where the best place to buy them though.

True. Those watches are now ruined. At least with big ugly rims and a spoiler it can be removed. The worst is when they're on a luxury sedan
