Wrestling Thread May 5-18 | 5/16 Black Friday for WWE - Stock Price Crashes

I didn't read a single post from CmPunk after he said Sheamus was a legend. For the sake of this thread, I'm glad he's gone though.

Stone cold was so over he counted his own 3 count at vengeance 99 when the ref was knocked out and it stood they rang the bell and played his music lol. I was like they really gonna honor that

if koko b ware is in the hall of fame. goldust is a deff. he's been the same character since 95?96? pretty impressive. not every hall of famer has to of did anything major in their career. because sometimes consistency over a span of close to 15 years is good enough , especially considering the wwe just picks who they want to be in and it isn't up to ballot voters.

I think he can get into the WWE HOF especially given the induction of Koko B Ware and other members:

Some of the choices are baffling given their association to the company.

I just don't think he'd get into the Wrestler Observer HOF. I remember last year there being a stink about if Sting deserved to be there.

Rusev's theme is too hard for him to fail. Hes the type of guy that should be in the IC picture.

His theme music is comic book villainy. And he's too comical. They're going for a Nikolai Volkof/Umaga character. However, he draws no heat because he doesn't sing the Russian or Bulgarian National Anthem. He doesn't wave the flag. He doesn't even say anything. His ring attire and look needs work. In ring, he's okay. All we've seen are squash matches on NXT and the racial assaults on Raw.

Going back to kooky 70-80s gimmicks are going to have these characters floundering or succeeding. Mind you, the only one that has succeeded so far is he Wyatts and Shield.

Good looks on those Bryan matches :hat

I know these have been posted before, but it's Mother's Day and Karen Angle-Jarrett is a mother

Goldust/Rhodes vs. Shield at either Battleground or one of the Raw matches

He also had a couple pretty good matches as Dustin Rhodes

Any tag team match with his brother during the title reign. Glodust vs Undertaker in your house it was a casket match.

Checked out the Ibushi/Naito match and it was....allllllright. Decent sprint with some nice spots, but it suffered from a problem that I notice in a lot of NJPW matches now: limb work that goes nowhere. Most of the body of the match was Naito going off on Ibushi's leg and it went nowhere because at the end Ibushi doesn't bother to sell and is running and jumping like nothing ever happened. It kinda killed the whole match for me...and also at one point Naito applied the figure four on the wrong leg :lol amateur stuff

Have you ever wanted to know what it takes to become a professional wrestler in the biggest promotion in Japan? This video shows exactly what exactly happens in a daily training session. From back bridges, to push-ups, to downright difficult looking exercises. Those who train in Japan are taught to be tough and to be well disciplined, and with these young talents at the time working closely under the late Kotetsu Yamamoto in 2002 they are indeed pushed to their limits. The talent involved are Naofumi Yamamoto 山本尚史 (Yoshi Tatsu), Ryusuke Taguchi 田口隆祐 , Shinsuke Nakamura 中邑真輔 & Hiroshi Nagao 長尾浩志.

Watching a malenko vs ultimo dragon match and they cut to a nwo commercial. I now see why wcw feel off, too much focus on that never ending angle not enough on in ring.

He did what he set out to do, he was already pretty old by the time he signed with WWE. All he wanted was to work MSG and WM...so he got to accomplish that. A cruiserweight reign would have been nice thouggh.

Watched the few japan matches posted. Takes me back to when I was young watching lucha libre not understanding a word but being entertained nonetheless. Crazy to know yoshi tatsu has that much bass in his voice. Lol. And the no selling of repeated knee attacks was kinda bogus. But all in all enjoyable thanks for making me more worldy in the wrestling genre. :)

Ultimo dragon was one of my faves. All my wrestling homies got put in the dragon sleeper. Real talk. We never listened to the don't try this at home. But I stopped after getting the 3-D and almost busting my grill on a table...luckily blocked it and got a sprained wrist. Sigh. :(
