Wrestling Thread Jan 9-22 | 1/20 Smackdown Roulette from Vega - D Bry vs Mark Henry

Found this old house show line up in my room at my parents' house.  Pretty cool to look back on.  This may have been my first WWE show.  I would have been 15.

No idea what the Slim Jim story is. Basically, at the time Savage left for WCW, Vince thought Savage was done as a performer and wanted him to be an announcer. Savage wanted to keep wrestling. WWF actually offered him a good amount of money to stay, but WCW either came close or matched the offer, so Savage left. Vince felt betrayed by Savage. That's the story I've heard.

And then Savage made mutli-millions in WCW once they started giving out their ridiculous contracts that eventually put them out of business.

this may be some attempt at trying to boost house show attendance (giving off the "anything could happen" vibe)

or

OR

this may be a burial so massive, only a select few thousand were allowed to see it

a title change at a house show has never been a good thing, for the title or for the person winning it.
the tag titles though?

My first show was also very close to that time. Maybe weeks apart. I had a great time but was bummed HBO wasn't there due to his back injury.

- Mike Mooneyham of The Post & Courier spoke with original Four Horsemen member Ole Anderson this week about the group being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Here’s what Ole had to say:

“Vince McMahon hates my guts, and I don’t like him. So that’s all there is to it. To be a part of that, anyone with a brain knows who the first Four Horsemen were. It was me and Arn and Ric and Tully Blanchard, and J.J. Dillon was the manager. So if they don’t know that, they don’t know anything about wrestling anyway. So what’s the difference?

- As noted earlier, Vince McMahon reportedly pulled WWE Champion CM Punk from escorting Chael Sonnen to the Octagon at UFC’s January 28th show on FOX from Chicago. Apparently Punk was also told that he shouldn’t even be in attendance at the show. Punk was told at Monday’s RAW and one source close to the situation described it as Vince just being in one of his moods. Sonnen reportedly got it cleared with UFC and Punk had it cleared with WWE but when it became a news story, WWE changed their minds.

Don't know if anyone has posted this, but Brodus Clay's theme music is the same as Ernest "The Cat" Miller's from 2004. Just realized this as I'm watching the Royal Rumble of 2004.

The new thread this week, I'll put together the Rumble pool.  I'll do two pools.  One for the 30 regulars from NTWT, and one that will be open registration for anyone else.  I will rely upon the help of some others (GHIMS, Hombre) to choose the main 30.

- Regardin BrasilianMami becoming a monster heel, there are reports that officials want a cross between abyss and brodus clay. Officials decided to have him become a monster heel because he wasn't getting over as a regular heel.

- Officials have become very impressed with the VeintiSiete/ImThatOne feud. They want them to take it to twitter to broaden the company's popularity. Word also coming in is that they would like the feud to continue all the way to NTMania II, with a stipulation added to the match.

- Reports coming now regarding the 1-16-12 videos are indeed for the new COO of NTDown and overall COO of the SuperShows. The last video showed a gate door bent in half with blood on the floor and the word "Darkness Is Coming" at the end. Word is that it has been kept quiet on who it is and that not even the CEO 4W, who is in france filming his new movie, doesn't know who it is.

- There will be an NTWEF Draft the week after NTMania II. Some talent may be on the move, some will stay on their current brands.

- Regarding JNSQ's groin injury, there are reports that the doctors have indeed cleared him but have told him he will need surgery down the line.

- The Power Ranking system willl be revamped. No word yet on how it will work but we were told that we will know more about it in the coming weeks.

- There are reports coming out that officials are doing some sort of lethal lottery tag team similar to what WCW did at StarrCade in the early 90's.

- Mister916, HombreLobo, JDCurt & TennHouse will be at the WallGreens located in Indianapolis, Indiana on Feb. 6 signing autographs.
