Wrestling Thread April 14-May 4 | 5/3 WWE Extreme Rules PPV Prediction Contest Now Open!

I got no problem with Sting... I like him, but was a WWF kid, so he was never important to me.. But I'll say this.. He was a top 3 guy for a failed company that went under, and that doesn't sound to important to me...

WCW was crap for the last 1 1/2 to 2 yrs, but that has nothing to do with Sting, Booker, Flair, or any other on air talent..That was pure management and anyone who knows wrestling knows that's the truth..So take away the last 2 year of WCW and Sting was still at the top of the 2nd largest promotion in the world for rougly 12-14 years..That sounds pretty damn important to me..And during the majority of Sting's time in NWA/WCW, that promotion was far and away the WRESTLING promotion..It's pretty much common knowledge that WCW had the better wrestling while WWF had the better characters..

I really hate how closed minded SOME traditional WWF dudes are man. Wrestling really starts and ends in the Northeast huh man. :smh:

I was always a WCW guy growing up..I loved a lot of the characters in WWF, but if I wanted to watch great wrestling with great in ring story tellers I would tune into WCW..

Let's not act like WWE didn't almost become that failed company until they started borrowing ideas.

Sting was a top 5 wrestler period for a good 10 years.

You say it as if WCW was failed throughout their entire history man. That isn't fair to give him that label.

Yes the company closed down, but during their heyday they did a lot of good, even great things, and were a viable threat to Vince and the WWE.

That list was bs cm punk was way to low. The fact that john cena was higher at number 12 is just sad... Top 6 I have no problem with tho

one of the best, everyone copied his promos & style...

I couldn't agree more..And it's a shame that I always forget to add him to my top promo guy list..But he deserves to be up there with the greats..

I always found it funny that Jesse Ventura, who I love as a commentator, would criticize Hulk Hogan for being a phony and a ripoff but yet Jesse's entire gimmick was a 1.7 million percent knock off of Superstar..

^^Jake and Arn should be higher..Hands down the 2 most under rated promo men in wrestling history..

And the fact that Edge, Albano, and Cena are ranked higher than Harley Race is pure insanity..

I thought you was serious till I seen the ha ha..

I think if more Memphis footage was readily available, Lawler would be mentioned more frequently on these GOAT lists. Dude was on top for 30+ years and was wrestling at very high levels for most of em. Maybe if that Memphis sale goes through with WWE, we'll see it on the network.

I'm not trying to take anything away from Lawler because he was a really good wrestler, but he was only really relevant to the Memphis area..And the man booked himself to win so many titles that it takes a ton away from his legacy..He's very much like Verne Gagne..They both owned/booked a territory and put themselves at the top whether someone else was deserving or not..Lawler will be remembered for these three things: 1. Andy Kauffman feud 2. Commentator for WWF/E 3. Wrestler..And that's the exact order..And that's nothing to be ashamed of..

Shocked that they have Jericho at 10. Not that he shouldn't be there (as he def should), but the WWE has just never have treated him with much reverence in the ring nor in reference to history.
