[::WORLD CHAMPION LAKERS OFF-SEASON THREAD: 2 Weeks Away From Pre-Season::]

Sooo lemme get this straight...Farmar wants a starting job as the main reason for going into Free Agency...

He leaves a back to back championship team...and sign with the worst team in the league, for exactly the same job that he didn't want....except he's in a worse city, a lottery team, and the starting PG will probably get more minutes that the one he previously backed up.

Guess dude had a rude awakening regarding his market value.

He probably forgot Devin Harris plays for the nets ..and said D'OH

It's close to happening?

"A source close to Derek Fisher said he’s confident the free-agent guard will re-sign with the Los Angeles Lakers instead of going to the Miami Heat. "

Throw the Lakers and Hedo rumor out the window

"The Phoenix Suns are on the verge of acquiring forwards Hedo Turkoglu and Josh Childress, according to the Arizona Republic"

TRADE SASHA!!!!! I find myself pulling my damn hair out everytime they put that clown in the game! LMAO at Farmar, what an idiot, the nets must really wanna be the worst team in the NBA.

ya'll do realize that the lakers weren't givin Farmar 4 mil a year right? I'd say that the Lakers would have offered 2, maybe 2 1/2 mil a year at the most. It ain't like he's makin as much as lebron James. A couple million dollars a year is a BIG difference to a player of his caliber. Seeing that he's been implying that he wants to go somewhere else that better suits him for a while now, there's a good chance that the lakers wouldn't have even offered him a contract. You mean to tell me ya'll wouldnt leave ya'll jobs if another company offered u TWICE as much money in an environment that better suited your skillset? Can't help but

at some of yall sometimes

^^ Lakers declined a qualifying offer to Farmar 1yr - $2.8 million contract offer . It was for both parties interest. It's a business. Farmar has a kid coming and is getting married - it's great for his security. I wish him the best, he showed heart in the playoffs and I'll be keeping tabs on him. Maybe the Nets move Harris.

Hopefully for Farmar, they give Devin some time at shooting guard.

I think he's a decent player, wish him the best.

"I have decided to continue with Kobe, continue with our teammates and the fans of Los Angeles," Fisher said in a statement. "While this may not be the most lucrative contract I've been offered this offseason, it is the most valuable. I am confident I will continue to lead this team on and off the court. Let the hunt for six begin."

The Lakers have won two straight titles and five in Fisher's tenure with the team. He gets a three-year deal to return, with a player option on the final year. Monetary terms were not immediately available.

Fisher, 35, had been courted by the Miami Heat. He met with Miami president Pat Riley and owner Micky Arison at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Miami on Saturday morning where the Heat told him it wanted him to be its starting point guard and to join LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

"I took time to consider all my options, many not reported in the media," Fisher said. "I listened to every coach, every general manager, even potential teammates in order to make the right decision and I thank every one of them. At the end of the day, there's one person I could not turn away from.

"Kobe Bryant asked me to stay but supported whatever decision I made. He and I have played together for 11 seasons, came into the league together as kids, and has been loyal to me even when others had doubts. We have won five championships together."

The Lakers had been in constant contact with Fisher and his representative Rob Pelinka since the free-agent negotiating period opened on July 1, although negotiations had proceeded slowly but amicably.

Fisher averaged 7.5 points and 2.5 assists per game last season, but he stepped up with some big shots in the playoffs, especially against the Celtics in the NBA Finals.
