With the economy still declining, Jordans are still selling out.

because kids and teens get on the nerves of their parents until they bow down and buy them the Jordans ^^
I remember i had got several new Jordans and Nikes in school time from my parents.
1996: Air Zoom flight '96 (Penny's Olympic shoes), AJ XII white/black-taxi
1997: Air Ndestruct allblack-patent (Rodmans), Air Foamposite One (Penny's playoff kicks), Air Pippen I black/reds, AJ XIII white/blacks
1998: Air Jordan XIII black/reds (ASG), Air Jordan XIV white/blacks
1999: AJ IV retro white-black-greys, Air Flightposite gold/blacks, AJ XV black/reds

after that i started to earn money working at FL part-time and spent much more on kicks.
2000: Air Jordan V retro white/black-firereds, AJ V retro + white(/silvers, AJ VI retro black/infareds, AJ XI retro white/black-concords, AJ XI retro spacejams
etc.................

Everything is being put on a credit card.
People spend money they don't have, but the shoes will erase the negative feeling of debt.

That is my moto. I work my buns off, cause I like to be able to buy stuff for myself and family/friends. I do it legitimate and honest.

Do I know this is going to last my whole life, probably not, so I am doing it now.

But, then again I can afford these releases and still be able to pay the bills on time.

No debt here.

Thanks.

Didn't read the other pages, but in my opinion less people are buying jordans. And these peeps are buying multiple pairs. Last shoe I bought was the XI in december. Wanted the 13s but said forget it.

This isn't new and I honestly think it will never change.  Jordans aren't normal goods, their sales are not dependent upon the state of economy.  It boils down to conspicuous consumption for the most part that is largely attributed to hip-hop culture.  Its funny because black Americans spend twice as much money on clothing and shoes than white Americans while earning about 13% less than them.  The earning differential has nothing to do with level of education and or work experience either.

i learned my lesson the hard way with credit cards and now i buy everything cash. if i dont have the money i wait till i have the money. At the end of the day they are only shoes and i will be able to find a pair. Id much rather be able to sleep well at night knowing i dont owe no money than have to worry about paying money for something that i couldnt afford and put on credit.

first off the economy is on the up but that really doesnt affect the sales of Jordans. People are going to buy jordans whether they really want them/can afford them or not becasue like it was previously stated, its a status symbol. I personally buy jordans because i love them and i enjoy wearing them. Ill walk around school and have people ask me about my shoes and how much i paid for them and when i tell them they cost 150-175 they look at me like im crazy( i got to a suburban high school and probably 95% of the people there are white, but im white to haha) Im probably the only real "sneakerhead" at my school and there are only a few other kids that even have collection J's. But, i also work at the finishline less than 5 miles from my school and we sell out of almost every GR collection jordan that we get by the end of the weekend, and surprisingly most of the transactions are done in cash. Also most of the people that come in and buy J's are grown men, and i rarely sell colllection J's to kids my age. Im 16 years old and i work hard so that i can buy the shoes i want, key words there are that i buy them with my own money. Granted i do get my discount on most of the shoes i buy but Jordans are something that make me happy, every time i buy a pair of 's i come home happy as can be, while my parents just shake their heads and smile and every time my mom says " i think its time to start cutting down on buying shoes. dont you think its getting out of hand?" but i work hard and i like to treat myself to nice things haha. But i also put half of every paycheck i get into a savings account that i cant use til im 18 so im still saving my money and being smart about it.

Good points. I cAme into the post to see if people were really buying these. I feel some of the woes. I have a family and home. Recently my wife became ill and so I'm the only one working. Amazing what happens when there's only one income. This year has been rough. Not used to having to budget and not buy sneakers. I used to work for Nike and when I stopped, it was a slow process back into the retail world. Just got used to it after my Nike plugs stopped working there. Now, this happens and we have to budget. I've skipped a few drops and you realize how important other things are besides sneakers. At least I have the collection so far which is alot.

If not paying bills and getting sneakers Is your thing then do you. Just don't put yourself in a really bad position is all I say.

Yep.  But now colleges are catchin' on.  Last year the hallways at my school were flooded with peoples who were only there for the Pell etc.  Now the hallways are semi-scarce and you have lots of those people crying about academic probation and how the school have taken away their financial aide.

And as for this topic, eh whatever.  NYC it's a normal thing.  You got dudes who have FTL in their closet, yet they're sleeping on their Mom's couch or on a bunk bed/air mattresss.
