With the economy still declining, Jordans are still selling out.

I'm planning to help out the US economy when I'm there I in July , gonna clean up all your Jordan's !For me it's more of a cycle, go through periods where all your bills come at once (car insurance, health insurance, home insurance etc) and you to have to miss a release.... Lucky for us in Australia, they don't sell out and you can pick them up weeks/months later. Saw the main Nike store in the city with a full size run of CG XI's.

I hear what you guys are saying about the HS kids running out and buying everything, but that money
has to come from some where.

I would HOPE that parents would use all this money on other things for their kids besides Jordans.

the economy is declining, but its not dead yet. Watch what happens if the economy is completely crumbled. The buying rate would be cut in half, and the selling rate would skyrocket. For now though, People buying these stuff are still a minority compared to the whole.

NT knows what shoes are releasing 5-6 months ahead of time, so people plan and save right?

But I know some NT'ers spend money they don't have. I was 18 once.

"Harlems, Jordans, the hood can't afford 'em. So they bootleg them now everybody sport 'em". -jadakiss

but forreal, i just budget and don't spend dumb money, then buy lightly worn/used shoes. I don't hype up all the new releases

Agree with the knowing and planning in advance comment. My pickups for the rest of this year are pretty much mapped out

qft well said my friend...for me i save and buy something i know i truelly like and need thats  why i smh at people who get into shoes just because they wanna be cool, fit in, or just do it because its the hip thing. i tell them choose a less expensive hobby
These are both very good points.

I know that some of these people are resellers, but how much can you really make nowadays reselling?

I remember when I was in HS, the spoiled rich kids, dealers, and people that worked would get Jordans, but nowhere near the
rate that it is now.

I grew up in a poor black neighborhood and it didn't have squat to do with how much income was pulled in regarding if you got the new J's.  The question wasn't if you could afford them per se as much as it was did you have the $150 in the first place to cough up.  I can't tell you how many times people would go to the corner store and buy a pack of gum with food stamps back to back to back to get the change (this was when you got cash back).  When EBT cards replaced paper currency to combat fraud, people would just sell their funds (I'll buy $100 worth of food if you give me $60 cash).  As far as the demographic that's on welfare and buys the latest J's, I've seen it first hand and to this day it's still hard to accurately explain why.  On one hand, it's to impress others and keep up with the "Joneses" but at the same time almost all their friends/counterparts know that they live in the hood so why try to impress someone?  For me personally, we were always too poor to for my mother to cop the J's so once I hit 16 and got my first job literally 99% of my check went to stuntin/flossin to make up for what I didn't have growing up.  When you haven't had for so long, you make up for it in excess.  Add to the fact that I had no budgeting/savings skills because there was never any money to be saved up I guess.

There's a reason why they get away with bad quality while increasing prices - Jordans are a status symbol for a huge portion of the population that buys them.  It's the same reason why people come into stores looking for "the newest J'z" instead of browsing for a pair that they like.

NT doesn't equal real life though.  I can't tell you how many people were doing returns before the Flints and the CGs last year trying to finance their XIs.  Even had 3 or 4 people who camped out well over a day that didn't get a pair because they came up NSF or card declined.  I'm not even mad if you're buying J's but you don't have that much disposable income.  But you should never be flat broke with no money in your pocket or account because you bought a flippin pair of shoes (unless it's a guaranteed resell opportunity that'll make you more cash).

That last paragraph says it all, read my post and I'm saying the same thing basically.

Indirectly it's race.  It's really about the culture of lower-income families spending money they shouldn't be spending and indirectly a huge portion of that population is poor blacks and hispanics.  This doesn't mean that poor whites don't do the same thing either; I'm sure workers at Abercrombie, AE, etc. witness the same thing going on there too.  I'm sure Apple store workers see it in regard to iPads/Macs and I wouldn't doubt it happens at private schools with people trying to put kids in schools where they can't afford the tuition.  And I know for a 100% fact it happens across the whole color/race spectrum for females when it comes to expensive designer purses.
