Boost, from what I understand, Clockwork doesn't do a full dalvik/cache wipe and Amon-Ra is supposed to. I haven't switched over to Amon Ra because like you said, Clockwork was there after rooting with Unrevoked. I've been flashing the same way since I started, and had no problems. I do however use Calkulin's Format All (does not format SD) in addition to wiping with Clockwork. People say ROM manager is an easier process, but like Tets, I do everything manual. Here's an article that may explain(confuse) it better ClockworkMod vs. Amon Ra

I just install everything manually. I|
Well for noob purposes ill stick with ROM Manager.
Whats the best and most stable version of MIUI and kernal? I see you rave about 1.2.8 and I read 1.3.5 is buggy as hell?

Any of yall got Twitter, I dont want to plague the thread with my noob root questions. Im in Rom manager, i click "all clockwork mod and recoveries" it pops up and says I must have CWM Recovery installed before but than I read I should click "backup current rom first"? Im lost, smh.

Not, really but you should if the information is important.

Unrevoked regular is a soft Root easily can lose root if you update a sense rom that is not moded

Unrevoked forever is a hard Root (completly unlocks the nand)

Download root checker after u do unrevoked to make sure your rooted. Its in the market.

If I used Unrevoked 3 (regular) can I get the regular OTA updates? Is there anything special I need to do in order to apply these updates? Or can I just push the button to get the update, and reroot again afterwards if I wanted it?

If you use the regular unrevoked you can update but you'll will lose root, however you don't ant to do this cause you might brick your evo its fixable if you do brick but its a headache to fix.

Yes the nook color is good in my books root and honeycomb it

^I'm completely oblivious to all the terminology and software updates all that. Would this be a complicated procedure and would any of this void the warranty? I'm going to my local B&N to check out the Nook in a bit.

I'm deciding between a used Ipad 1 and the Nook Color.

My main uses would be to read books, blogs, articles, maybe watch a youtube video once in a while, be able to read schoolwork from blackboard, netflix maybe... that's about it. Seems like the Nook Color is a great product for all of this. Just want to make sure I'm making the right assumptions here. Am I?

Your gonna create vs. Argument that attracts trolls of each os party and I don't have time to argue.
Buy what you like and try out both. The nook sole purpose is to read ebooks and anything else that comes with it. I'm pretty sure the nook doesn't do netflix....I pad yes that's if wathing netflix is important to you.

Root is like jailbreaking, yes it will void warranty, but you can un-root.
If you want to take it a step further if you get the nook you'll root and make it faster its up to you.

Congrats....finally...lol
When I rooted it came with ClockworkMod Recovery 2.6 built into it, so I gather I don't need amon-ra than?
Naa....they do the same thing, i just prefer Amon Ra because clockwork wasnt wiping my phone.
I would only use clockwork if i was going back to a cyanogen ROM.

Only reason i dont use Cyanogen right now is because it kept restarting when i listen to music and turn the screen off while its playing.  Ill just wait till they get rid of the restart bugs.
