Back to the Future Cast Reunite, Talk Back to the Future 4 Possibilities
Back-To-The-Future-Reunion-Cast-Photo-Sequel.jpg

Back to The Future stars Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, and Thomas Wilson held a mini-reunion at the Fan Expo Boston over the weekend and discussed the possibility of often-talked about Back to the Future 4. While Lloyd seems interested in the idea, only if the story is right, the rest of the cast pretty much dismissed the idea of the fourth installment ever becoming a reality. The Back to the Future franchise is beloved all over the world, but it doesn't look like it will be expanding any time soon.

Back to the Future 4 rumors pop up constantly, with fans of the franchise hoping that one day Marty McFly and Doc Brown will go on another adventure. When asked about the possibility of Back to the Future 4 at the Fan Expo, Biff Tannen actor Thomas Wilson joked that people want to see another movie because they want to see the franchise start to "suck." Thomas F. Wilson is obviously joking, but he makes a good point about sequels and reboots. He explains.

"Basically, I think America is saying, Come on, they've wrecked every other franchise with bad sequels, why not this one? C'mon, we would watch it until it sucks."
Michael J. Fox noted that Back to the Future co-creator Bob Gale is "the gatekeeper" to the franchise. Gale and Robert Zemeckis have both said that Back to the Future 4 will never happen, which is what Fox was referring to. Zemeckis has said that the duo would have to be dead before another movie ever got made. The director went even further by saying that the movie will probably happen after they're dead "unless there's a way our estates can stop it."

Basically, it doesn't look good for another Back to the Future movie, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. In a recent interview, Christopher Lloyd talked about the idea of another film, stating that he would be "delighted" to do it if the script were as good as the other movies. While the actor would like for Back to the Future 4 to officially happen, he knows that it would be nearly impossible to come up with something that can standup with the rest of the original trilogy.

While we probably won't be seeing Back to the Future 4 in the near future, anything is possible. A brilliant script could get the attention of Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale and blow them away, but for now, it really does not look like it's going to happen, which is fine. There's still three awesome movies to go back and enjoy. For now, aBack to the Future reunion photograph from over the weekend featuring Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Thomas F. Wilson and Lea Thompson will have to suffice. You can check out the awesome new (non-fading) cast photograph below, thanks to Christopher Lloyd's Instagram account.

**** Wolf's 'New York Undercover' Reboot Gets Pilot Order at ABC
The drama, which is in development, would see the 'Law & Order' mastermind branch out to shows on three of the big four broadcast networks.

Mega-producer **** Wolf is looking to expand to a third of the big four broadcast networks.

The mastermind behind NBC's Law & Orderand Chicago franchises and CBS' FBI is rebooting the former Fox drama New York Undercover, with Disney-owned ABC handing out a pilot-production order for the potential series days after news of the project first leaked.

The reboot, which Wolf's agent and WME head of television Rick Rosen cryptically mentioned this month during a Paley Center panel, is written by Ben Watkins (Amazon's Hand of God), with Wolf and his Universal Television-based Wolf Entertainment banner's Arthur Forney and Peter Jankowski attached. The drama is a co-production between Universal Television and ABC Studios. (Wolf's CBS rookie procedural FBI follows a similar producing split as CBS TV Studios owns 50 percent of the series alongside UTV.)

Co-created by Wolf and Kevin Arkadie, New York Undercover aired for four seasons on Fox from 1994-98. Malik Yoba, Michael DeLorenzo, Lauren Velez and Josh Hopkins starred in the drama that was originally produced by Universal Television. The show took place in the same universe as Wolf's original Law & Order and its subsequent spinoffs (and Homicide: Life on the Street). The series is notable for being the first police procedural on U.S. television to boast two people of color in the leading roles.

Rosen this month noted that multiple networks had entered a bidding war for the New York Undercover reboot before it landed at ABC. "It's the type of franchise that you can redo, and you don't necessarily have to use the same cast," he said during the Paley Center panel, which was moderated by The Hollywood Reporter's editorial director Matthew Belloni.

For ABC, New York Undercover arrives as the Disney-owned broadcaster is currently casting a reboot of another iconic cop drama, NYPD Blue. The project, which is in development, is described as a sequel that follows Andy Sipowicz's (original star Dennis Franz) son, Theo, as he tries to earn his detective shield and work in the 15th squad while investigating his father's murder. Former NYPD Blue writer Matt Olmstead — who was a showrunner on Wolf's NBC drama Chicago PD — is penning the script.

Should ABC move forward with New York Undercover, Wolf could have an impressive seven shows on three broadcast networks in the 2019-20 season, as NBC has already gone straight to series on a new Law & Orderspinoff — Hate Crimes — and could renew SVU, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med and Chicago PD, with FBI considered likely to earn a second season at CBS.

For his part, Watkins next executive produces the Apple drama Are You Sleeping, starring Octavia Spencer. His credits also include the USA Network procedural Burn Notice. He is repped by WME.

‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ Series Reboot With Original Cast Shopped To Networks

Hit 1990s teen drama Beverly Hills, 90210 is staging a comeback. A reboot featuring a number of original cast members including Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling, Jason Priestley, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green and Gabrielle Carteris is being pitched to broadcast and streaming networks with multiple buyers interested, sources said.

I hear the scripted project from CBS TV Studios features most of the original cast but is not a traditional reboot. I hear the new Beverly Hills, 90210 comes from writers/executive producers Mike Chessler and Chris Alberghini, who worked on the CW’s 90210 reboot and on Spelling’s series So Notorious, as well as CBS TV Studios-based Ghen Maynard, who has a relationship with Spelling and Garth and executive produces the new series.

It was Spelling who first let slip in March that a Beverly Hills, 90210 reboot was in very early stages of development at CBS TV Studios. She teased the news with an Instagram post, in which she unveiled that she had partnered with Garth on a 90210-related project, with a #donnaandkellyforever, a reference to the actresses’ Beverly Hills, 90210 characters.

At the time, it was reported that Spelling and Garth would be playing “exaggerated versions of themselves.”

Nine months later, the project has been taken to the marketplace, with word getting out when a TMZ photographer caught a glimpse of the actors and writers in-between meetings.

The original 1990-2000 series on Fox, created by Darren Star and produced by Aaron Spelling, featured Spelling, Garth, Priestly, Shannen Doherty, Luke Perry, Ziering, Green, Carteris and others as students living, loving and spending at West Beverly Hills High School. It spawned multiple spinoffs including Fox’s fellow pop culture hit Melrose Place and the less successful Models, Inc.

More recently, the CW did a rebooted 90210 series, from CBS Studios, in which Spelling, Garth and Doherty reprised their roles during the first season. It aired for five seasons and ended in 2013.

Spelling and Garth also co-starred on 2014’s then-ABC Family comedy series Mystery Girls, which lasted one season.

‘90210’ Event Series With Original Cast Members Lands At Fox For Summer

https://deadline.com/2019/02/90210-...-date-beverly-hills-90210-reunion-1202566002/

It’s official: Fox has closed a deal for the new series reuniting original Beverly Hills, 90210 cast members Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris,Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling. Titled 90210, the show from CBS TV Studios has received a six-episode order to air this summer. Watch a teaser above.

Fox, which aired the original Beverly Hills, 90210 series, had emerged as the frontrunner for the new 90210, which was taken out in December. The broadcast network was described as being “the most passionate” about the project, a serialized drama – with a dose of irreverence — inspired by the sextet’s real lives and relationships, in which Priestley, Garth, Ziering, Carteris, Green and Spelling will play heightened versions of themselves.

Beverly Hills, 90210 left an indelible impact on pop culture and an entire generation,” said Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn. “Its powerful legacy is an important part of our network’s DNA – bold stories not told anywhere else and bigger-than-life-characters – and we’re honored to bring back the beloved original cast members for 90210.

Last month, Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier told Deadline that 90210 andMelrose Place are among his favorite Fox series of all time and pieces of IP he would like to explore at the network.

In the new series, having gone their separate ways since the original series ended 19 years ago, Jason, Jennie, Ian, Gabrielle, Brian and Tori reunite when one of them suggests it’s time to get a Beverly Hills, 90210 reboot up and running. But getting it going may make for an even more delicious soap than the reboot itself. What will happen when first loves, old romances, friends and frenemies come back together, as this iconic cast – whom the whole world watched grow up together – attempts to continue from where they left off?

The series was conceived by Mike Chessler and Chris Alberghini, who worked on the CW’s 90210 reboot and on Spelling’s series So Notorious, along with with Spelling and Garth.

Alberghini and Chessler will write the series. They executive produce with Carteris, Garth, Green, Priestley, Spelling and Ziering. CBS TV Studios-based Ghen Maynard, who has a relationship with Spelling and Garth, developed the project.

Beverly Hills, 90210 premiered on Fox on October 4, 1990, and became an instant pop culture sensation and one of the most popular programs in the network’s history. Centered on the tony Los Angeles community identified in its title, the show aired for 10 seasons, during which it documented the trials and tribulations of a group of friends from high school to college and into early adulthood, as they navigate myriad coming-of-age dramas and complex rivalries.

Coincidentally, 90210 alumna Spelling is one of the celebrities on Fox’s breakout reality competition The Masked Singer.

“It’s not technically a reboot, because I feel like everyone has seen the reboot,” Spelling said of 90210 in one of the interviews after her exit from The Masked Singer. “We don’t want to be the last ones like doing the reboot thing, and no one wants to see like old versions of ourselves, but they do want to see us playing our characters, so what we’re doing is the entire cast is playing heightened versions of themselves. Think Curb Your Enthusiasm episodes, in an hourlong show, and we’re all playing heightened versions, so it could be fictional, it could be nonfictional, people will have to guess. And then we will have pop-ins, because we’re behind the scenes trying to do the reboot.”

Spelling also revealed at the rime that Luke Perry, who is a series regular on Riverdale, “will do as many [episodes] as he can do” given his obligations to the CW drama, which films in Canada. And there is “no status right now” on Shannen Doherty, but “we would love to have her on.”

But Eddie got killed though, how you gonna fix that?
Oh, I didn't know that. Damn. I guess I didn't finish the show. I would've been heartbroken to see that.

Maybe they could bring him back as a different character for a few episodes-- the gay nightclub owner who is moving weight

Just restore the original music from the classic "BH 90210" and "NY Undercover" and call it a day. Admittedly, i'm still curious to see how they work all this out.
