Ligue 1 is definitely trash. PSG got worse and monaco got a little better which closed the gap. Having competition at the top of a table doesn't mean the league is good. Haven't we learned that from the EPL the past few years? :lol I kid I kid, before some EPL fans kill me. but seriously ligue 1 is not that good.

They "tested" it in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final. That is not the setting to be trying new things.

Goal line technology is one thing, but full-on review? No. Just no.

Hopefully this doesn't become a thing.

Probably the only time I'll ever agree with you on this forum.

I pray to God that this doesn't happen. It will ruin the flow and momentum of the game.

Whenever Arsenal loses you know it's a good week, Laughing at bringing up Man U slander due to saltiness of a loss :rollin

Ligue 1 is "trash" but every big club is milking the talent

Carrasco, James, Martial, Payet, Aubameyang, Coman, Hazard, Lacazette, Michy, Marquinhos, Verratti, Aurier, Zouma, Umtiti, Digne...

The league is only trash until your favorite teams come through and raid the talent :lol

Its only "trash" because a french team isn't rotating out of the CL final.

having talented players does not mean the league is good.
But Sevilla and Real Sociedad would?
are sevilla and real sociedad leading la liga? no.

the fact that nice and monaco are actually leading the league shows how bad league one is.

you started the argument off with the 56 goals thing.

they wouldn't have 56 goals in any other league

last year PSG won the league by 31 POINTS!!

they had 96 and the next closest team had 65

Yeah I agree wholeheartedly with this. Outside of perhaps Germany, France is producing the best young talent there is. They may only be in Ligue Un for the beginning of their careers, but the French academies are the standard bearers in the sport.

point blank period, if ligue un could retain the talent it would be an incredible league

I didn't even start off an argument :lol . I posted a stat that impresses whether its Ligue 1, La Liga, or the Prem. To score 56 goals while also still competing in the CL and only 1 win away from dominating your league on goal difference for the next month is impressive. Point blank. Thats a massive achievement for it to only be December and your backup striker is a 17 year old who just put up a hat trick.

Had that been a young english kid, he would be all over the metro transfer rumors. Whether he played against an upper tier English club or a club facing relegation.

Had this been Sevilla or Inter, you guys would be posting about it and how it proves how competitive and unpredictable these leagues are. But since is France, its "trash" :{ :lol

Leicester city runs rampant last year and its an amazing testament of how great the Prem is, but Nice and Monaco are balling out of control, holding the 4x ligue 1 giants back from dominating, and its "trash".

Had it been Wolfburg and Leverkusen over Bayern, it would be a "class league".

But France is trash.

And you're talking about Monaco like they aren't one of the TOP french clubs in history... Like they don't produce some of the best players, and aren't one of the most popular french clubs in the world. Ask a french person about football and they'll probably say Lyon, Marseille, or Monaco before PSG. Despite me liking PSG so much (because of the Zlatan man and their fire kits), PSG isn't that big in comparison. Many professional french players don't even like PSG, hence why they don't want to go back and play for them despite how much money they have. Now that Monaco is rolling in the dough, and once Lyon and Marseille catch up, you'll see more players sticking around.

My point was never that Ligue 1 is the best league in the world. Its that Ligue 1 isn't trash. Its a quality league that produces quality talent, and if you watch enough games, its just as exciting as Serie A, La Liga, and even the Bundesliga. The level of teams aren't as strong across the board as say a La Liga or Bundesliga or Prem, but to call it a trash league because Barcelona, RM, Bayern, or Juve doesn't play there is wild talk. PSG is only 40some odd years old...

Producing talented players doesn't mean the league as a whole is class. :lol The Eredivisie has constantly given us high level players, but that doesn't mean the league is good. They have a close title race every year as well.

You're right, it doesn't. But both UEFA and the IFFHS both rank French Lugue 1 as the 5th strongest league in the world.

http://www.uefa.com/memberassociations/uefarankings/country/

http://iffhs.de/the-strongest-league-in-the-world-2015/

Not the internet, not NT, not youtube comments section... But the world.

Its not just me saying its a class league, stats prove its a class league.

And the players I posted aren't just good players. Most of them are key players to their teams. Coming from a "trash" league.

I'm not saying Ligue 1 is the strongest, or even near the strongest league in the world. I'm saying, its quality. And this season its more exciting than ever. Its the 5th ranked league out of 54 ranked UEFA leagues on the planet. Its literally top 5. Thats hardly trash.

But its something I not only see on NT on a regular basis, but all over. Just because peoples favorite teams don't play there.

Whoaaaaa a class league? Being #5 is nice, but I mean anyone including myself would say they're the 5th best league in the world. That being said, the dropoff when you go from top 4 to 5 and below is huge. Just look at the score in that chart you posted :lol Serie A has been pretty weak in recent memory compared to how it used to be, and they are still 16 points higher on the scale than Ligue 1. La liga, EPL, Bundesliga, and Serie A are in a class of their own. Then you drop into the second tier after that imo. PSG just drew with ludogorets in a must win game to top their group in CL. That tells a lot imo

They drew Ludogorets ONE time :lol

Real Madrid drew Legia

Juve drew with Lyon

If Ligue 1 is trash, what does that say about Juve? What does that say about the most recent champions Madrid?

Its only "not class" when we're talking about Ligue 1...

The fact that Ligue 1 seems to be this "feeder league" that blesses all your squads, but still are able to compete in the CL says a lot. But maybe Ligue 1 can pick up those points to match Serie A once they start keeping all their talent.

Most if not al of the top Italian players play in Serie A. Just as all of the top Spanish players play in La Liga, and how Englands top flight is all in the Prem. Ligue 1 teams have to sell these players because PSG and now Monaco are the only 2 teams with money to bring in and keep players.

Despite all of that, they're still the 5th rank league in the world, with all of their top produced talent spread out across Europe.

Like I just said, it was a must win game for PSG vs ludogorets. It wasn't just another match. The fact that they threw everything they had at that game and came away with a draw against THAT team says a lot. RM had 3 of their 4 starting back line players out against legia. Juve drawing with lyon isn't a huge deal. It was a regular group stage CL game.

Here's a quote from Claudio Marchision after that Lyon draw. I remember laughing when I saw it on twitter. :lol

Winning today was not crucial for us

If you have Ligue 1 as a good league, that's fine, but to call it a class league is a bit of an overstatement. I have tried to watch matches from the league with teams not named PSG/Monaco/Nice and it was tough to watch. They produce good talent no doubt, but the league as a whole not that good.

PSG is under a new manager, running a new formation and system, with new players. They finished in the same position as real madrid. (I say this obviously despite the fact that madrid are madrid and just won the CL for like the millionth time, but still)

To not call them a class league is more disrespectful to the league than calling them a class league is an overstatement.

It wasn't a win or die situation for PSG. They were making it out of the group even if they lost. Yes winning the group was important, but PSG went through, as they always do.

They finished 2nd in the group. That is the same type of draw that bit Madrid in the *** as well. So I still don't see how you can point the finger at Paris, when Madrid did the same exact thing. Despite who Madrid had out, its real Madrid... Their rotation should have handled Legia.

But then again, when we're talking about Ligue 1... Trash..

You're basically saying that out of the 54 leagues, theres only 4 class leagues and Ligue 1 isn't because.....

call it a trash league because Barcelona, RM, Bayern, or Juve doesn't play there

?

Would it take a French team winning the CL again for it to be a class league?

The fact that Ligue 1 produces SO MUCH talent, while still having regular faces in the CL despite losing said talent, keeping the gears oiled season in and out proves its a class league. While operating on much less money than Spain, Germany, and England.
