The league is only trash until your favorite teams come through and raid the talent

Its only "trash" because a french team isn't rotating out of the CL final.

James Rodriguez came through a small Colombian club named Envigado, then an Argentine club named Banfield, and then went to Porto. Don't try to claim him as a Ligue 1 product.

Don't try to debunk my point by singling out one guy.

Respect to those clubs he played at, but my point still stands. Ligue 1 gets raided for homegrown talent, and for players who grow into form in France. James was a stud before going to Monaco, I'll give you that.

You didn't know? If the league doesn't house multiple teams with a 5 star FIFA video game rating then the league is trash and no good.

The Scottish Premier League is trash. The Cypriot League is trash. There are what 40+ pro leagues in Europe?

A league in the upper 90th percentile of domestic leagues on the continent is not trash. Just seems like a poor use of words to me.

To be fair, the $10 fakes I saw in Thailand last year were identical to my real jerseys that I've purchased over the years. Ever since I saw those $10 fakes, I haven't purchased any jersey at all. Should've stocked up like my friend did back then; he bought a Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Chelsea jersey for $30 I just didn't have it in me to purchase fakes even though they were basically the real thing.

I think overall it speaks a lot about Nike and Adidas' quality if $10 fakes are the same quality as real $100+ kits. My kits from over the years have all sorts of damage on them even though all I did was wear them casually to sports bars/events and wash them inside out, which is unacceptable for a $100 shirt.

Manchester City  striker Gabriel Jesus  was left needing treatment after being hacked down by a pitch invader.

The Brazilian,  who joins Pep Guardiola’s  squad next month, was playing in a charity match in his homeland when the incident happened.

You're taking offense to the Ligue 1 comments because you enjoy watching the league. I get it. But don't lie to yourself and call it a "world class" league. Call it what it is, a feeder league that produces a lot of talent.

My favorite league is Argentina's Primera Division. Is it world class? Of course not, most European teams wash us when they play our clubs. Does it produce a lot of talent though? Yes. We produce a **** ton of talent.

I have no problem with supporting and enjoying a "feeder league. Doesn't bother me one bit.

But as a follower of the league, when many people refer to it as a "trash league" based mostly assumptions without following the league outside of checking PSG's scores from time to time, you could understand why someone would step in and defend it.

My initial to Jape was that Ligue 1 wasn't trash. Not that it was a world class league. Along the way it got lost in translation. I'm using the term class as a respectful way of saying its a good league with good talent working on much smaller budgets thus resulting in said teams having to sell players to stay financially afloat. Pair that with it still managing to be the 5th ranked league in the world, and you have a quality or "class" league doing their best to keep things competitive since everyone doesn't have big cash money like PSG.

Obviously its not a WORLD CLASS league with the highest competition with the best teams. I'm not using the term class by that definition. But to say its trash like itsthat much worse than a league like #4 ranked italy, especially at the moment when teams like Inter any many others are struggling in the same ways many mid to lower league 1 teams do is pretty disrespectful. Ligue 1's reputation doesn't reflect its quality of football. Like I posted a page or 2 back, Ligue 1 isn't the best of the best but it isn't the Sweedish or Belgium league either.

But when you see teams like Nice and Monaco doing so well right now, especially Monaco playing well in the league and in the CL, to write them off saying "this just shows how trash the league is" is part troll and part ignorant to the impressiveness these clubs have shown to overthrow not only PSG's financial dominance, but to play at a higher level than a team thats dominated since 2012.

But like I said, I have no problem with supporting a league that isn't 5 stars or world class. And despite me liking a team thats dominated it the last 4 years, I'm glad theres competition.

But either way, despite what rank or level of class the league stands in. Monaco is performing like a world class club right now, Ligue 1 or not, and those 56 goals I originally posted was mostly my surprise and respect to that.

Right there with you PRIME . Do I wish that Argentine clubs had more money and could retain their more talented players? Of course. Unfortunately that's not the case and the cream of the crop tend leave to Europe at an early age. It doesn't make me love the league any less though. I might miss a Liverpool match here and there, but I'll never miss a San Lorenzo fixture.

It looks like another young American will be joining Bundesliga side FC Schalke 04. According to Sports Illustrated’s Grant Wahl, Schalke is intent on signing 17-year-old American attacking midfielder Nicholas Taitague.

Taitague is on trial with Schalke and the club’s director of youth development, Oliver Ruhnert, says Taitague will offered a contract upon turning 18 in February. Taitague is currently prevented from joining Schalke, due to FIFA rules which generally prohibit international transfers of players under 18.

In April, Taitague joined the NASL’s Carolina Railhawks on an amateur contract. He is considered a promising midfielder despite only making a few appearances for the Railhawks. Taitague has four goals in four appearances for the U-18 USMNT, per Transfermarkt.

If he joins Schalke as planned, then he would be the third U.S. youth international in less than a year to sign with Die Königsblauen. Taitague would join former Cosmos forward Haji Wright and FC Dallas Academy midfielder Weston McKennie in the Schalke ranks.

So far

Becks need to stop *******ttin' and get this Miami team going or at the very least, invest in Miami FC and bring them into MLS instead. I know there's a lot of factors preventing that but brah, you draggin' ya feet with this.

It's a shame the Ft. Laudy Strikers are doneso too

NY Cosmos to too big of a team with a lot of history to just...fold. I hope they find a place in USL or become an MLS expansion.

Initially it seemed that the stadium was the biggest issue but there's nothing to show for this club as of yet. Lately a lot of people have been saying invest into Miami FC instead. But the commissioner said that he's more confident in the situation than ever so we'll see.

The Cosmos brand is worth a lot....it won't be expanded into the MLS. They rather move into different markets than have a 3rd NY team.
The NASL is trying to stay alive and have a league of 8-10 clubs.

I know the Rowdies are trying to get into MLS instead of going down a division. Doubt they would be successful but it would get Freddy Adu back to the MLS.
