Word is that Arsene is going after Jadson and also Scott Dann.
Torres might miss the opening game due to a concussion....well it was a suspected one but scans showed no major injury....

First of all, I think Sanchez will be relegating Pedro to the bench, but I believe that Cesc and Iniesta will have a rotation. There is no way they will be able to play without a Busquets on the pitch. There is plenty of first team football to go around.

whoops, completely  forgot about sanchez

Saw earlier that Philly is trying to convince Fabio Grosso to come over. But he either wants more money or just doesn't want to play in MLS.

http://www.brotherlygame.com/2011/8...adelphia-union-juventus-transfer-window-rumor

Tutto Mercato Web, through its Juventus site Tutto Juve, is reporting that the Philadelphia Union are meeting with the Italian power's left back Fabio Grosso for a second time.

The Union supposedly met Juventus' asking price for a transfer fee last week, but then word out of Italy was that Grosso did not like the personal terms nor did he wish to come to America to play.

The former Italian national will most certainly demand at least a million dollars in yearly salary, as his contract with Juventus still pays Grosso at least $1.5 million dollars this year.

So I was trying to think of a wacky fantasy football team name and got some inspiration from this list of actual club names:

UC AlbinoLeffe
(Italy) Not a brand of Belgian Abbey beer, but an Italian club from Bergamo.

http:// Blooming
(Bolivia) Or to give them their full title, Club Social, Cultural y Deportivo Blooming.

http:// Burntisland Shipyard FC
(Scotland) Another Scottish company works team, this one formed from the employees of the Burntisland Shipbuilding Company backin 1919 and still going strong in the Kingdom Caledonian Football League (unlike the actual shipyard, which closed in 1969).And they still stick to their pre-match tradition of hurling a bottle of champagne at the changing room building from anearby tree.

http:// Civil Service Strollers
(Scotland) East of Scotland league outfit. Winners of the East of Scotland Consolation Cup in 1921. A cup given to the teamwho scored the most 'consolation goals' in the league that season. Probably. Will only be able to field 9 players in matches after the public sector cuts. And if they think that hard pressed taxpayers are going to fund shorts...

http:// Club Destroyers
(Bolivia) Santa Cruz based side, who compete with The Strongest for Bolivia's toughest sounding name.

http:// Coronel Bolognesi
(Peru) Translating as Colonel Bolognesi, and sounding like some possible Italian rival to that bloke who started KFC,they're a Peruvian club from the southern city of Tacna and named after one of the country's military heros,Francisco Bolognesi.

http:// Deportivo Moron
(Argentina) Often overlooked in favour of Peru's Wanka, but we actually give this one the nod as the best club name ever.

http:// Deportivo Wanka

(South Africa) Legendary South African team that was formed in the 90's in the city of Nelspruit. They managed to getto the top tier and did pretty well for a couple of seasons before dropping back again and eventuallybeing re-branded. Quelle surprise !

http:// FC Englebert
(Congo) Previously known as FC Holy Paul , they were re-branded as FC Englebert in recognitionof their main sponsor - unfortunately a tyre company rather than Humpledink. They've changed their name sinceto TP Mazembe but still have a reference to Englebert on the club badge. The club are now best knownfor becoming the first non-European or South American club to reach the final of FIFA's Club World Cup,when they beat Brazilian side Internacional 2:0 in the 2010 semi but then lost to Inter Milanin the final.

http:// FL Fart
(Norway) There's only one thing better than this Norwegian club's name, and that's the name of their stadium... Fartbana.Check out Fart's official website by clicking here .

http:// Gala Fairydean
(Scotland) Scottish football team who currently play in Division 1 of the East of Scotland Football League but who have applied, unsuccessfully, to join the Scottish Football League four times since the mid 1960's. The Gala part of their name comes from the town they're from... Galashiels. As for the mystical-sounding Fairydean, who knows, but the atmosphere of this friendly club was best summed up back in 1997 by the club chaplain, Father Edward McCrilly... (Scotland) Highland League side formed way back in 1903, and as the name suggests, were the football team of the locomotive factory. (Bolivia) Another fantastically named Bolivian team, this one based in the city of Cochabamba. Blackburn decided to go with a Charity for their sponsor. Classy move, obviously don't know much about the charity
but if part of the revenue for the shirt goes to the charity I might be grabbing one sometime. Also this is one of those few times
where the sponsor's logo really helps the shirt look better, if  possible.

@ new season kick-off tomorrow.

Let's go Gunners, get a damn trophy or 3.

"I expect nobody to leave,'' Wenger said. "The best thing for us one day before the championship starts is not to focus on possible transfers. At the moment there is no news. If there is news I promise I will give it. I will decide what's best for the club.

But neither Cesc or Nasri will play tomorrow due to illness/fitness.
Arsenal agree deal to sign Joel Campbell
Arsenal Football Club has agreed terms with Costa Rican side Deportivo Saprissa to sign teenage striker Joel Campbell.

The 19-year-old who was in the Costa Rica squad for the recent Copa América and the Under-20 World Cup, has chosen the Gunners despite strong interest from a host of top European clubs.

Born in the Costa Rican capital San José, Campbell is predominantly left-footed and has made six full international appearances, scoring twice. He scored on his debut in a 5-0 win over Cuba at this year’s CONCACAF Gold Cup, helping his side to the Quarter-Final of the competition.

Campbell added a second to his tally against Bolivia in the Copa América. He has also scored ten times in twelve appearances at Under-20 level, including two goals in three appearances in the Under-20 World Cup in Colombia.

Campbell has had two seasons in his native Primera División, where he played for Deportivo Saprissa and on loan at Puntarenas, making a total of eight league appearances.

Deportivo Saprissa is one of the top clubs in the CONCACAF region and has won the Costa Rican Premier League a record 29 times.

The transfer is subject to the completion of formal agreements and processes.

Arsenal Manager Arsène Wenger said: “Joel Campbell has already shown that he is a player with great ability, and has also performed well on the international stage at a young age. We look forward to the formalities of the transfer being completed and working with Joel when he joins us at Arsenal."
