history is finding as much sources we have and trying to figure a narration. That doesn’t mean all of history is opinions though.

slavery in America happened. That’s a fact.
the holocaust happened. That’s a fact.
Japan colonized Korea. That’s a fact.

i understand what you’re saying and agree that the narration of history can change. But some things really aren’t even debatable UNTIL New sources are discovered.

Ex.

Officers in the national intelligence agency during Nazi Germany said they only followed Hitler out of fear. This was the narrative of Nazi German history. As decades went by, more sources and documents changed that narratives and historians found that what they said wasn’t true. Historians began to find that Nazi officers in the intelligence agency actually believed Hitler’s philosophy and followed him because of the shared belief. This changed the narrative of history.

no sources like that has changed the history of Samurais being brutal. at least for now.

Black and white mode plus Japanese voice track with minimal HUD

Combat looks good but let down a bit by some animations but that can be tidied up.

I'm just hoping the AI isn't really that bad in the shipped version. I'm hoping the AI was only dumbed down for the sake of the video. Other than that, it looks good. Audio tracks for the Japanese voice acting seem to be paired with English track mouth movements, though, which is a bit concerning... Especially considering they've been working on this game the entire console cycle (last game they put out was InFamous Second Son).

Ghost looks good. But as someone who majored in E Asian history it’s hilarious the amount of stereotypical things they put in there from what I’ve seen.

aside from the mongols never attacking Japan (they tried twice but their fleets were destroyed in a typhoon)

samurais weren’t some super honorable warriors that you see in movies and in games lol. They had rules of structure and honor on the outside, but they were complete savages. There’s plenty of primary sources from monks describing samurais as monsters.
Also the game displays mongols like some low lives lol. These guys had the second largest empire in all of history and were some of the most sophisticated people in all of history.

I know it’s just a demo they showed but I really do hope they show how intelligent the mongols actually were.

Same. I majored in History and I have to admit, I was completely let down to find out that the Samurai were not the Samurai hollywood had portrayed in the films.

Based on my professor some can argue that Korea actually colonized Japan, many Japanese people avoid the topic of conversation.

This is based on the theory that the artifacts that may be found in the Kofuns would connect back to ancient Korea.

Interesting stuff.

I'd have to look back and see if I can find the book that was required for the class (Almost 10 years ago) but the professor had a multiple class session on this topic.

Sounded believable because he said he lived in Japan and studied the history there lol.

EA is rumored to be a doing this for Madden and the like with the XSeX, so it will likely be the same for the PS5.

I think Ubisoft is doing the same with AC Valhalla.
