I still feel like Titanfall wasn't a lifetime exclusive until they made the announcement that it was. They went maybe five months since the reveal using lingo that sounded like anything but an exclusive. They also needed good PR before the X1 launched because the PS4 dominated the pre-orders. If it wasn't locked up after the fact, why wouldn't they just come out the gate saying it's a lifetime exclusive?
EA didn't need Microsoft to fund that game. EA is one of, if not the largest game publisher, who have funded a multitude of multi-million dollar projects. Titanfall would of been made with or without Microsoft's involvement.

EA bet on the wrong horse out of the gate. IF they had any clue the PS4 would smoke the xbone out of the gate Titanfall would've been on the PS4. Didn't one of those guys send out a tweet that they didn't expect Titanfall to be full exclusive? They had planned to release it on xbox first then PS later?
. MS funded the game, had a huge marketing budget for the game, EA got money in the exclusivity deal, MS picked up the bonus payments to Respawn for the first year (i.e, most of bonus money that would have to be paid), and MS aided in development. Oh yes, sounds like a horrible deal for EA
